  1. 21. Evaluating the transport and composition of gully pot sediments : Under changing anthropogenic activities and rainfall regimes

    Författare :Haoyu Wei; Lian Lundy; Maria Viklander; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering; Centre - Centre for Stormwater Management DRIZZLE ; Centrumbildning - Centrum för dagvattenhantering DRIZZLE ;

    Sammanfattning : Gully pots are a fundamental runoff quality and quantity control measure installed in urban catchments around the world. However, their ubiquitous use in urban catchments also incurs a substantial resource demand in terms of routine maintenance if their continuous performance is to be assured. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Characterisation of Urban Rainfall in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

    Författare :Mohamed Nor bin Desa Mohamed; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; geographical and geological engineering; Hydrogeology; velocity; vector; monsoon; Malaysia; thunderstorm; Hydrogeologi; teknisk geologi; teknisk geografi; Geophysics; physical oceanography; meteorology; Geofysik; fysisk oceanografi; meteorologi;

    Sammanfattning : Rainfall characteristics of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, are studied in space and time; on a large scale, 550 km2, and long term scale to find out the monsoon influence, and on urban basin scale, 23 km2, to determine dynamic properties of rainfalls and spatial correlations, and on a point scale to determine the probabilities of very high rain intensities. The importance of spatial and temporal variability of rainfall was investigated applying cross correlation on long term historical rainfalls from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Inter-annual variability of rainfall in Central America : Connection with global and regional climate modulators

    Författare :Tito Maldonado; Björn Claremar; Eric J. Alfaro; Jorge A. Amador; Michael Taylor; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Precipitation; climate variability; El Niño Southern Oscillation; Tropical North Atlantic; Canonical Correlation Analysis; EC-EARTH; Caribbean Low-Level Jet;

    Sammanfattning : Central America is a region regularly affected by natural disasters, with most of them having a hydro-meteorological origin. Therefore, the understanding of annual changes of precipitation upon the region is relevant for planning and mitigation of natural disasters. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Design flood estimation under uncertainty

    Författare :Kenechukwu Okoli; Giuliano Di Baldassarre; András Bárdossy; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Dimensionerande flöden; osäkerheter; avrinningsmodellering; frekvens analys.; Dimensionerande flöden; osäkerheter; avrinningsmodellering; frekvens analys.; Design flood; uncertainty; rainfall-runoff; frequency analysis.; Hydrology; Hydrologi;

    Sammanfattning : Att bestämma dimensionerande flöden, d.v.s. sannolikheten för att vat-tenföringen i ett vattendrag överskrider ett givet värde, är ett allmänt hydrologiskt problem som exempelvis används för att utvärdera över-svämningsrisker i vattendrag samt för att dimensionera hydrauliska kon-struktioner. 5. 25. Blue-green stormwater systems for citywide flood mitigation : Monitoring, conceptualization, modeling, and evaluation

    Författare :Salar Haghighatafshar; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; blue-green measures; drainage system; flooding; flood mitigation; hydrodynamic modeling; rainfall-runoff; stormwater;

    Sammanfattning : Considering the growth in urbanization, leading to an increase in impervious surfaces, and the changing climate, enhancing the intensity and frequency of rainfall events, existing urban drainage networks—separate or combined sewer systems—are presumed to face substantially elevated hydraulic loads, causing pluvial floods in urban areas. There are several ways to address these challenges. LÄS MER
