  1. 16. Wastewater discharges and microbial variability in a surface water source

    Författare :Johan Åström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; faecal indicators; pathogens; drinking-water; microbial risk assessment; variability; rainfall; catchment; wastewater; surface water; Hazardous events;

    Sammanfattning : Planning for drinking-water safety in surface waters includes a systematic assessment of hazards in the catchment, and microbial contamination is considered a major health risk. The aim of this thesis was to identify and characterize microbial hazardous events reported for River Göta älv, Sweden. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Rainfall variability, soils and land use changes in the Ethiopian highlands

    Författare :Staffan Rosell; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; rainfall change; soil productivity; tef; land-use changes; South Wollo; water harvesting;

    Sammanfattning : Most farmers in the Ethiopian highlands are dependent on rain-fed agriculture. The indigenous cereal tef is the most important crop for the farmers in the highlands. The central highland is an environmentally fragile area and a marginal area of Ethiopia with a recurring problem for the farmers to sustain an adequate agricultural production. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Rainfall-Runoff Modelling Using Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs)

    Författare :Aman Mohammad Kalteh; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hydrogeology; geographical and geological engineering; Hydrogeologi; teknisk geologi; teknisk geografi; Self-organizing map; Feed-forward multilayer perceptron; Forecasting; Hydrological modelling; Missing values; Rainfall-runoff modelling; Estimation; Artificial neural networks;

    Sammanfattning : Over the last decades or so, artificial neural networks (ANNs) have become one of the most promising tools for modelling hydrological processes such as rainfall-runoff processes. In most studies, ANNs have been demonstrated to show superior result compared to the traditional modelling approaches. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Flood Prediction in data-scarce basins : Maximising the value of limited hydro-meteorological data

    Författare :José Eduardo Reynolds Puga; Sven Halldin; Chong-Yu Xu; Jan Seibert; Thomas J. Grabs; Vazken Andréassian; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Floods; data scarcity; value of information; rainfall-runoff modelling; regionalisation; rainfall-forecasts; event-based calibration; climatological day; discharge day; temporal resolution; modelling time-step.; Databrist; flödestoppsbaserad kalibrering; högflöde; informationsvärde; klimatologiskt dygn; nederbörds-avrinningsmodell; modelltidssteg; regionalisering; regnprognos; tids-upplösning; vattenföringsdygn; översvämning.; Inundaciones; falta de datos; valor de información; modelos lluvia escorrentía; regionalización; pronósticos de lluvia; definición del día; resolución temporal; paso de tiempo.;

    Sammanfattning : Floods pose a threat to society that can cause large socio-economic damages and loss of life in many parts of the world. Flood-forecasting models are required to provide simulations at temporal resolutions higher than a day in basins with concentration times smaller than 24 h. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Influence of Sea Surface Temperature on Rainfall and Runof in Northeastern South America: Analysis and Modeling

    Författare :Cintia Bertacchi Uvo; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; kartografi; marklära; geomorfologi; Fysisk geografi; climatology; pedology; cartography; Physical geography; geomorphology; sea surface temperature; rainfall-runoff; Amazonia; precipitation; Northeast Brazil; klimatologi; Geophysics; physical oceanography; meteorology; Geofysik; fysisk oceanografi; meteorologi; Hydrogeology; geographical and geological engineering; Hydrogeologi; teknisk geologi; teknisk geografi;

    Sammanfattning : This work represents an amalgam of a group of studies with the purpose of understanding the influence of the Pacific and Atlantic sea surface temperature on precipitation and river discharge in Northeastern South America. Sea surface temperature is a good representative of phenomena such as ENSO that, in turn, cause worldwide climate variability. LÄS MER
