  1. 1. Early parathyroidectomy in mild primary hyperparathyroidism: Effects on heart and bones

    Författare :Erik Almqvist; Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; parathyroidectomy; hyperparathyroidism; bone metabolism; testosterone; myocardial hypertrophy; cardiac function; echocardiography; radionuclide angiography; natriuretic peptide; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatologi; ortopedi; traumatology; Kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : There is an ongoing controversy regarding how to take care of patients with mild primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT). Some recommend surgical treatment at diagnosis, others just follow-up as long as there is no evidence of disease progression. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Functional and morphological MR studies in congenital cardiovascular malformations

    Författare :Catarina Holmqvist; Lund Diagnostisk radiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; medicinsk instrumentering; tomografi; radiologi; Klinisk fysiologi; Contrast-enhanced MR angiography.; Coarctation; Intra-cardiac shunts; Conduits; Tetralogy of Fallot; Function; Flow; MR velocity mapping; Infants; Children; Magnetic Resonance Imaging; Angiocardiography; Heart; Congenital heart defects; medical instrumentation; tomography; radiology; Clinical physics;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this study was to evaluate new MR techniques permitting qualitative and quantitative analysis of cardiac function and measurement of velocity and flow, and later on contrast-enhanced MR angiography, techniques largely unexplored in children with CHD. Infants with tetralogy of Fallot and pulmonary atresia with ventricular septal defect were examined pre-operatively. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Left ventricular filling during coronary artery bypass grafting

    Författare :Sten Samuelsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Heart: surgery; coronary artery revascularization; ventricle; mitral valve Cardiopulmonary bypass Cardiac output Thermodilution Echocardiography: transesophageal; two-dimensional; Doppler Radionuclide ventriculographySten Samue;

    Sammanfattning : Left ventricular (LV) filling, determination of preload, right ventricular end-diastolic volumes, volume contributions during early (E) and atrial (A) phases of LV filling and mitral valve opening areas were studied in 75 patients scheduled for elective coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). The purposes of the study were: (1) To evaluate changes in LV filling judged as peak velocity E/A ratios determined by Doppler transesophageal echocardiography during and in the early phase after CABG. 5. 5. Noninvasive evaluation of the effects of coronary artery bypass grafting on myocardial function

    Författare :Anders Hedman; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Coronary artery bypass grafting; C-reactive protein; dobutamine stress test; Doppler tissue imaging; echocardiography; exercise test; interleukin-6; myocardial peifusion scintigraphy.;

    Sammanfattning : Coronary bypass grafting (CABG) is an effective treatment of patients with coronary artery disease and leads to an improvement in both cardiac symptoms and long-term survival. The effects of CA13G on global left ventricular systolic and diastolic function at rest and during stress, and the long-term effects on right ventricular function and their significance and relation to early graft occlusion and residual myocardial ischemia have however not been fully elucidated.
