  1. 1. Quantifying image quality in diagnostic radiology using simulation of the imaging system and model observers

    Författare :Gustaf Ullman; Michael Sandborg; Gudrun Alm Carlsson; Nicolas Pallikarakis; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; radiology; radiation physics; image quality; optimisation; effective dose; chest radiography; Radiological physics; Radiofysik;

    Sammanfattning : Accurate measures of both clinical image quality and patient radiation risk are needed for successful optimisation of medical imaging with ionising radiation. Optimisation in diagnostic radiology means finding the image acquisition technique that maximises the perceived information content and minimises the radiation risk or keeps it at a reasonably low level. 2. 2. Calculation of scatter in cone beam CT : Steps towards a virtual tomograph

    Författare :Alexandr Malusek; Michael Sandborg; Gudrun Alm Carlsson; Michael Ljungberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Scattered photons—shortly scatter—are generated by interaction processes when photon beams interact with matter. In diagnostic radiology, they deteriorate image quality since they add an undesirable signal that lowers the contrast in projection radiography and causes cupping and streak artefacts in computed tomography (CT). 3. 3. Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging for Clinical Diagnosis : Exploring and Improving the Examination Chain

    Författare :Mattias Ragnehed; Peter Lundberg; Maria Engström; Örjan Smedby; Peter Fransson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) is a relatively new imaging technique, first reported in 1992, which enables mapping of brain functions with high spatial resolution. Functionally active areas are distinguished by a small signal increase mediated by changes in local blood oxygenation in response to neural activity. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Computer Assisted Coronary CT Angiography Analysis : Disease-centered Software Development

    Författare :Chunliang Wang; Örjan Smedby; Anders Persson; Hans Frimmel; Markus Müller; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Coronary CTA; vessel segmenation; centerline tracking; visualization; Radiology; Radiologi; Image analysis; Bildanalys; Cardiology; Kardiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The substantial advances of coronary CTA have resulted in a boost of use of this new technique in the last several years, which brings a big challenge to radiologists by the increasing number of exams and the large amount of data for each patient. The main goal of this study was to develop a computer tool to facilitate coronary CTA analysis by combining knowledge of medicine and image processing. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Skuggor av sanning : Tidig svensk radiologi och visuell kultur

    Författare :Solveig Jülich; Boel Berner; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; science studies; visual culture; history of Swedish radiology; professionalization; scientific images; scientific observation; objectivity; subjectivity; judgment; röntgenfotografi; medicinhistoria; radiologi historia; visuell perception; INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH AREAS; TVÄRVETENSKAPLIGA FORSKNINGSOMRÅDEN; HUMANITIES and RELIGION;

    Sammanfattning : The present study deals with the introduction and reception of x-ray images in Sweden around 1900. The general aim is to investigate two cultural contexts of the early x-ray image. It is shown that during the initial years x-ray images were wedded with photographs and film in an expanding mass visual culture. LÄS MER
