  1. 1. Radioiodine Therapy of Hyperthyroidism - Simplified patient-specific absorbed dose planning

    Författare :Helene Jönsson; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; radiobiologi; Radiofarmaceutisk teknik; Radiopharmaceutical technology; absorbed dose. optimise; hyperthyroidism; therapy; 131-I; radioiodine; Nukleärmedicin; radiobiology; Nuclear medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Radioiodine therapy of hyperthyroidism is the most frequently performed radiopharmaceutical therapy. To calculate the activity of 131-I to be administered for giving a certain absorbed dose to the thyroid, the mass of the thyroid and the individual biokinetic data, normally in the form of uptake and biologic half-time, have to be determined. 2. 2. Microdosimetry of radiohalogens in thyroid models

    Författare :Anders Josefsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Microdosimetry; radiohalogens; radioiodine; astatine-211; thyroid gland; man; rat; mouse;

    Sammanfattning : The radiohalogens 123I, 124I, 125I, 131I, and 211At are routinely used or proposed for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. The different characteristics and application areas of these radioiodine isotopes, together with the possibility to bind them to the same carrier molecule, give many advantages, for example, by enabling relevant biodistribution and dosimetric studies important for dose-planning before radionuclide therapy. 3. 3. Molecular Mechanisms of Graves' Ophthalmopathy. A focus on smoking and radioiodine

    Författare :Bushra Shahida; diabetes och endokrinologi Genomik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Graves’ disease. Graves’ ophthalmopathy; radioiodine; inflammation; adipogenesis; IL-1ß; IL-6; PTGS2 COX2; PGE2; CTLA-4; B lymphocytes; T lymphocytes; Simvastatin; Diclofenac; SNP; gene expression; IGF-1;

    Sammanfattning : Graves’ disease (GD) is an autoimmune disease characterized by hyperthyroidism and is caused by an interplayof genetic and environmental factors. One-third of patients with GD develop Graves’ ophthalmopathy (GO). Keyprocesses in the pathogenesis of GO are inflammation and adipogenesis in orbital tissue. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Iodine status and iodine pool an a small community in western Sweden

    Författare :Mille Milakovic; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :goitre; thyroid volume; ultrasonography; urinary iodine; TpoAb; TSH; iodine supplementation; radioiodine uptake; scintigraphy; XRF;

    Sammanfattning : Iodine is essential in the synthesis of the vital hormones of the thyroid gland. On a worldwide basis, iodine deficiency is the global most important cause of thyroid disease. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Thyroid associated ophthalmopathy : treatment for hyperhyroidism and evaluation of methods for measuring saccadic eye movements

    Författare :Frank Träisk; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Graves disease; thyroid associated ophthalmopathy; saccade; main sequence; magnetic scleral search coil; infrared reflection; radioiodine; anti-thyroid drugs; smoking;

    Sammanfattning : Thyroid associated ophthalmopathy (TAO) is the orbital manifestation of autoimmune thyroid disease that clinically affects about 30-50 % of patients with Graves disease (GD). The clinical features of TAO are in most patients mild and transient. LÄS MER
