16. The Soft Tissues in Osteoarthritis and Arthroplasty of the Hip
Sammanfattning : Ultrasonography as a tool measuring the anterior capsular distance in THA was so far not described nor validated. Comparing the measurements of the capsular distance set with a caliper/ruler with those performed with ultrasonography on a THA model demonstrated a high correlation between measurements. LÄS MER
17. Regeneration in periodontal and endosseous implant treatment
Sammanfattning : In a series of clinical studies regenerative procedures for periodontal disease treatment were evaluated. A reproducibility study of probing measurements using a manual periodontal probe and 3 pressure-sensitive probes showed that measurements obtained using the manual probe were the most repeatable. 18. Physical and psychophysical properties of digital intraoral radiography
Sammanfattning : Objectives: This thesis aimed to the evaluation of different digital intraoral radiographic systems, partly by defining objective measures of their physical properties, namely their resolution, signal and noise characteristics, and partly by employing methods to measure their psychophysical properties including viewer performance, such as the Perceptibility Curve test. In a next step, a mathematical model was developed to predict Perceptibility Curves without employing viewers. LÄS MER
19. A new computed tomography method for evaluation of orthopedic implants : applied to the acetabular cup
Sammanfattning : Background: Two major long term complications after total hip arthroplasty (THA) is aseptic loosening and wear of the implant. In the clinical situation a detection level of approximately 1 mm is desirable. However, conventional planar radiographs used in clinical routine cannot reach this level. LÄS MER
20. Wear and Loosening in Cemented Hip Arthroplasty
Sammanfattning : The mechanisms of loosening in total hip arthroplasty (THA) and the role of polyethylene (PE) wear debris in this process is unclear. Radiographic measurements showed that THA with 32 mm heads have about 3 times greater volumetric wear than those with 22 mm heads. LÄS MER
