  1. 11. On Quality in Radiotherapy Treatment Plan Optimisation

    Författare :Hunor Benedek; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Pareto optimisation; Pareto fronts; Dose prediction; Machine learning; Deliverable treatment plans; Volumetric modulated arc therapy; IMRT; patient-specific plan quality; plan quality; Multi Criteria Optimisation; Automated Treatment Planning;

    Sammanfattning : Radiotherapy is one of the essential treatments used in the fight against cancer. The goal of radiotherapy is to deliver a high dose of ionising radiation to the tumour volume and at the same time minimise the effect on healthy tissue by reducing the radiation to critical organs. 2. 12. Evaluation of absorbed dose and image quality in mammography

    Författare :Bengt Hemdal; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; optically stimulated luminescence; radioluminescence; in vivo dosimetry; dose reduction; dose protocol; average glandular dose; absorbed dose; Breast cancer; mammography; Monte Carlo; image quality; image quality criteria; contrast-detail phantom;

    Sammanfattning : Mammography refers to the X-ray examination of the human breast, and is considered the single most important diagnostic tool in the early detection of breast cancer, which is by far the most common cancer among women. There is good evidence from clinical trials, that mammographic screening can reduce the breast cancer mortality with about 30%. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Hyperbaric oxygen treatment for pelvic radiation-induced injuries. From a multicenter randomized controlled trial to an experimental cell model

    Författare :Nicklas Oscarsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hyperbaric oxygen treatment; hyperbaric oxygen; late radiation-induced injury; cystitis; proctitis; reactive oxygen species; radiation therapy; quality of life;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction Cancer is affecting a growing number of persons. Still, the treatment and survival of cancer is improving. Radiation therapy is used in the treatment of cancer. Late radiation-induced injuries afflict 5–15% of irradiated patients. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Quantifying image quality in diagnostic radiology using simulation of the imaging system and model observers

    Författare :Gustaf Ullman; Michael Sandborg; Gudrun Alm Carlsson; Nicolas Pallikarakis; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; radiology; radiation physics; image quality; optimisation; effective dose; chest radiography; Radiological physics; Radiofysik;

    Sammanfattning : Accurate measures of both clinical image quality and patient radiation risk are needed for successful optimisation of medical imaging with ionising radiation. Optimisation in diagnostic radiology means finding the image acquisition technique that maximises the perceived information content and minimises the radiation risk or keeps it at a reasonably low level. 5. 15. Development of analytical transport methods for biologically optimized light ion therapy

    Författare :Johanna Kempe; Anders Brahme; Irena Gudowska; Naruhiri Matsufuji; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Radiotherapy; radiation quality; energy-range relations; light ion transport; pencil beam; Monte Carlo; Physics; Fysik; medicinsk strålningsfysik; Medical Radiation Physics;

    Sammanfattning : A general objective in the treatment of cancer is to eradicate the tumour cells without inducing severe complications in healthy normal tissue. The use of light ions for radiation therapy increases the possibility to deliver tumour suicidal doses with very low probability of normal tissue injury, not least in cases where the target is unresectable, radioresistant and located to near organs at risk.
