6. ESR dosimetry in the radiation therapy dose range : development of dosimetry systems and sensitive dosimeter materials
Sammanfattning : ESR dosimetry with L-α-alanine as a dosimeter material is a well known and frequently used method for measuring high absorbed doses, for example at sterilisation and food irradiation. The increased sensitivity of modem spectrometers and an increased knowledge of the radiochemical properties of alanine have lowered the detection limit of ESR/alanine dosimetry to the dose range relevant for radiation therapy. 7. Dosimetry of Local Radio Frequency Exposure
Sammanfattning : Finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) is a popularcomputational electrodynamics modelling technique. It has been widelyused, from radar cross section computations through electromagneticcompatibility investigations to modelling of electromagnetic exposurein biological tissues. LÄS MER
8. Development of tissue-equivalent CVD-diamond radiation detectors with small interface effects
Sammanfattning : Due to its close tissue-equivalence, high radiation sensitivity, dose and dose-rate linearity, diamond is a very promising detector for radiation therapy applications. The present thesis focuses on the development of a chemical vapour deposited (CVD) diamond detector with special attention on the arrangement of the electrodes and encapsulation having minimal influence on the measured signal. 9. Pharmacokinetics and dosimetry in intraperitoneal radioimmunotherapy with 211At
Sammanfattning : The prognosis for patients diagnosed with disseminated cancer is often poor. Radioimmunotherapy (RIT) is a new approach to treat disseminated disease. The aim is to target tumor cells with monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) labeled with radionuclides which release cytotoxic particle radiation upon decay. The radionuclide 211At, with half-life 7. LÄS MER
10. Optically Stimulated Luminescence for Retrospective Radiation Dosimetry. The Use of Materials Close to Man in Emergency Situations
Sammanfattning : If an accident or attack involving radiological or nuclear material were to happen, people from the general public would be at risk of exposure to ionising radiation. Unlike people working with ionising radiation, for whom level of exposure to radiation is constantly monitored with dosemeters, people from the general population do not wear dosemeters; thus, the dose estimations for these individuals must be performed using alternative methods.
