  1. 16. Development of Experimental Brachytherapy Dosimetry Using Monte Carlo Simulations for Detector Characterization

    Författare :Vaiva Kaveckyte; Åsa Carlsson Tedgren; Alexandr Malusek; Hamza Benmakhlouf; Jan Seuntjens; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Dosimetry; brachytherapy; solid-state detectors; Monte Carlo;

    Sammanfattning : Brachytherapy (BT) is a type of interventional radiotherapy that is advantageous due to high absorbed dose conformity and possibility to deliver high dose in few fractions. It is often used for prostate and gynecological tumors as monotherapy or a boost alongside external beam radiotherapy (EBRT). LÄS MER

  2. 17. Small-Scale Dosimetry for the Testis: Applications in Nuclear Medicine Diagnostics and Therapy

    Författare :Suaad Meerkhan; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Testis; 111-In; Autoradiography; Biodistribution; Small-Scale; Monte Carlo; Dosimetry; spermatogonia; gammaH2AX; immunofluorescence;

    Sammanfattning : It is well known that the testicles are among the most radiosensitive tissue, and constitute an important critical target for both external and internal radiation during diagnostic and therapeutic use of radionuclides. In systemic radionuclide therapy where very high activities are administered, the testis may become a dose-limiting organ; often with a complex, non-uniform activity distribution and a resulting non-uniform absorbed-dose distribution. 3. 18. The Importance of Dosimetry and Radiobiology in Nuclear Medicine : Quantitative methods and modelling

    Författare :Anna Stenvall; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear medicine; radionuclide therapy; radiopharmaceutical therapy; dosimetry; Monte Carlo modelling; radiobiology; ; γH2AX; DOTA-TATE; PET; SPECT;

    Sammanfattning : Nuclear medicine uses radioactive pharmaceuticals for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes. The ionizing radiation emitted from the radiopharmaceutical is partially absorbed within the patient's body and internal dosimetry is the method to estimate the absorbed dose to a tumour or risk organ. 4. 19. Biokinetics and radiation dosimetry of 14C-labelled triolein, urea, glycocholic acid and xylose in man. Studies related to nuclear medicine “breath tests” using accelerator mass spectrometry

    Författare :Mikael Gunnarsson; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Clinical physics; radiology; tomography; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; xylose.; glycocholic acid; urea; triolein; Dosimetry; Biokinetic; AMS; Accelerator mass spectrometry; 14C; Breath test;

    Sammanfattning : 14C-labelled substances have been used in biomedical research and clinical medicine for over 50 years. Physicians and scientists however, often hesitate to use these substances in patients and volunteers because the radiation dosimetry is unclear. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Household salt as an emergency radiation dosemeter for retrospective dose assessments using optically stimulated luminescence

    Författare :Maria Christiansson; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Optically stimulated luminescence OSL ; household salt; NaCl; retrospective dosimetry; accident dosimetry;

    Sammanfattning : In the event of a radiation accident, it is crucial to make rapid estimates of the absorbed dose received by both emergency workers, so-called first responders, and members of the public. Today, only personnel in rescue teams responding to nuclear emergencies have access to individual dosemeters. LÄS MER
