11. Experimental Neuroretinal Transplantation
Sammanfattning : Embryonic full-thickness rabbit neuroretinal sheets were transplanted to the subretinal space of adult hosts. This was accomplished by using a new transplantation technique involving vitrectomy and retinotomy. The grafts were followed from 10 to 306 days after surgery, and were then examined by different histological techniques. LÄS MER
12. On a novel technique for preparation and analysis of the implant surface and its interface to bone
Sammanfattning : The ultrastructural and biomechanical properties of the bone-implant interface are important factors for implant performance. For further understanding of the osseointegration process novel tools enabling analysis of the intact interface in high resolution is needed, preferably combined with histology and biomechanical tests. 13. Neuropeptide and catecholamine effects on tenocytes in tendinosis development : studies on two model systems with focus on proliferation and apoptosis
Sammanfattning : Background: Achilles tendinopathy is a common clinical syndrome of chronic Achilles tendon pain combined with thickening of the tendon and impaired tendon function. Tendinopathy is often, but not always, induced by mechanical overload, and is frequently accompanied by abnormalities at the tissue level, such as hypercellularity and angiogenesis, in which case the condition is called tendinosis. 14. Mechanisms behind the lipid-lowering effects of ACTH - Studies in different experimental models
Sammanfattning : Abstract Adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH) has strong and direct lipid-lowering effects in man. All apoB-containing lipoproteins, i.e. VLDL, LDL, Lp(a), are reduced by 25-30%. LÄS MER
15. BMP implants in bone formation. Studies in rabbits and rats
Sammanfattning : Bone morphogenic proteins, BMPs, are a group endogenous proteins that are highly conserved through evolution. The amino acid sequences of about 15 different BMPs are now known and recombinant human BMPs are commercially available. Implantation of an individual BMP protein is sufficient to induce bone formation even at a subcutaneous site. LÄS MER
