  1. 21. Anabolic Androgenic Steroids and Criminality

    Författare :Fia Klötz; Ingemar Thiblin; Niklas Långström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Psychiatry; Anabolic steroids; Violence; Crime; Substance abuse; Psykiatri;

    Sammanfattning : Anabolic Androgenic Steroids (AAS) have been associated with adverse psychiatric effects, aggression and violent behaviour. The use of them has spread to a larger subpopulation, and the use has been connected to different risk behaviours, such as use of other illicit substances and carrying a gun. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Experimental studies on thrombosis and thrombolysis : With special reference to importance of lys-plasminogen, active site thrombin inhibitors and stable fish oil

    Författare :Liying Chen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Thrombolysis; thrombosis; recombinant tissue-type plasminogen activator; lys- and glu-plasminogen; aspirin; thrombin inhibitors; platelets; superoxide dismutase; stable fish oil; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; rättsmedicin; Forensic Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Dissolution and prevention of thrombus in the atherosclerotic coronary artery have become an important part of treatment therapy of acute myocardial infarction. However, the currently most effective thrombolytic agent, recombinant tissue-type plasminogen activator (rt-PA), only elicits 80% recanalization of thrombotically occluded coronary arteries and early occlusion occurs in about 40% of successfullyrecanalized vessels. Sammanfattning : Coronary arterial endothelial injury and thrombosis are believed to be critical factors in the pathogenesis of coronary artery disease (CAD). Experimental studies have provided evidence for au inverse relation between acute coronary events and antioxidant intake. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Vitamin E in food, polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and lipid lowering treatment with statins have been found to decrease the risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD) and cardiac death. However, clinical trials revealed no beneficial effect of intake of alpha-tocopherol alone. LÄS MER
