  1. 1. Restructuring the socially anxious brain : Using magnetic resonance imaging to advance our understanding of effective cognitive behaviour therapy for social anxiety disorder

    Författare :Kristoffer N. T. Månsson; Gerhard Andersson; Tomas Furmark; Per Carlbring; C-J Boraxbekk; Philippe Goldin; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Social anxiety disorder SAD ; Cognitive behaviour therapy CBT ; Amygdala; Multimodal neuroimaging; Support vector machine learning SVM ; Social ångest; Kognitiv beteendeterapi; Hjärnavbildning; Amygdala; Magnetresonanstomografi;

    Sammanfattning : Social anxiety disorder (SAD) is a common psychiatric disorder associated with considerable suffering. Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) has been shown to be effective but a significant proportion does not respond or relapses, stressing the need of augmenting treatment. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Changes in gene expression during delayed neuronal death after cerebral ischemia in the rat

    Författare :Fredrik Kamme; Lund Wallenberg Neurocentrum; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; neuropsychology; Neurology; ischemia; brain; neuronal death; gene expression; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : After transient global cerebral ischemia, selected populations of neurons in the brain will die after a period of 2-3 days, a phenomenon termed delayed neuronal death. This is of clinical importance as delayed neuronal death has been found to occur in humans as well. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Development and Characterization of a Global Brain Ischemia Model in the Mouse -A Genetic and Pharmacological Approach

    Författare :Tomas Olsson; Neuroinflammation; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; neurofysiologi; neuropsykologi; Neurologi; neuropsychology; Neurology; global; hypothermia; hsp70; receptor; adenosine A1; NMDA; cystatin C; cell death; hippocampus; Brain; ischemia; neurophysiology;

    Sammanfattning : Brain ischemia is a major cause of death and morbidity in the industrialized countries. It is mainly caused by stroke, but may also be the consequence of successful cardiopulmonary resuscitation in victims of cardiac arrest, known as transient global ischemia. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Survival of Cultured and Grafted Embryonic Dopaminergic Neurones - Effects of hypothermia and prevention of oxidative stress

    Författare :Jenny Karlsson; Neurobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurology; 6-OHDA; lazaroid; PBN; brain; transplant; Parkinson s disease; dopamine; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Transplantation of embryonic dopaminergic neurones can ameliorate symptoms in Parkinson’s disease, but a major obstacle for clinical transplantations to overcome is the low survival (typically 5-10%) of implanted nigral neurones. If cell death in nigral grafts can be prevented, less embryonic tissue would be needed per transplantation session and hence more patients could receive intracerebral grafts as a therapy for Parkinson’s disease. 5. 5. Underlying psychological mechanisms of helping effects : Examining the when × why of charitable giving

    Författare :Arvid Erlandsson; Institutionen för psykologi; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; charitable giving; helping; prosocial behavior; helping effects; identified victim effect; proportion dominance effect; in-group effect; emotions; sympathy; perceived utility; perceived responsibility; decision modes; mediation; moral decision making; dual-process theories.;

    Sammanfattning : The overarching purpose of this thesis was to investigate if different helping effects can be specifically linked to different psychological mechanisms. Helping effects (i.e. the when of helping) refer to situational differences that can increase or decrease the probability of helping. LÄS MER
