16. Discrete Event Simulation of Bus Terminals
Sammanfattning : Public transport is important to society as it provides spatial accessibility and reduces congestion and pollution in comparison to other motorized modes. To assure a high-quality service, all parts of the system need to be well-functioning and properly planned. One important aspect for the system's bus terminals is their capacity. LÄS MER
17. Some topics in web performance analysis
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of four papers on web performance analysis. In the first paper we investigate the performance of overload control through queue length for two different web server architectures. The simulation result suggests that the benefit of request prioritization is noticeable only when the capacities of the sub-systems match each other. LÄS MER
18. Infinite-state Stochastic and Parameterized Systems
Sammanfattning : A major current challenge consists in extending formal methods in order to handle infinite-state systems. Infiniteness stems from the fact that the system operates on unbounded data structure such as stacks, queues, clocks, integers; as well as parameterization. LÄS MER
19. Multi-Hop Real-Time Communication over Switched Ethernet Technology
Sammanfattning : Switched Ethernet technology has been introduced to be exploited in real-time communication systems due to its features such as its high throughput and wide availability, hence being a cost-effective solution. Many real-time switched Ethernet protocols have been developed, preserving the profits of traditional Ethernet technology, to overcome the limitations imposed by using commercially available (COTS) switches. 20. Bufferbloat and Beyond : Removing Performance Barriers in Real-World Networks
Sammanfattning : The topic of this thesis is the performance of computer networks. While network performance has generally improved with time, over the last several years we have seen examples of performance barriers limiting network performance. In this work we explore such performance barriers and look for solutions. LÄS MER
