1. Machine learning for quantum information and computing
Sammanfattning : This compilation thesis explores the merger of machine learning, quantum information, and computing. Inspired by the successes of neural networks and gradient-based learning, the thesis explores how such ideas can be adapted to tackle complex problems that arise during the modeling and control of quantum systems, such as quantum tomography with noisy data or optimizing quantum operations, by incorporating physics-based constraints. 2. Quantum state characterization with deep neural networks
Sammanfattning : In this licentiate thesis, I explain some of the interdisciplinary topics connecting machine learning to quantum physics. The thesis is based on the two appended papers, where deep neural networks were used for the characterization of quantum systems. LÄS MER
3. Quantum technologies for secure communications
Sammanfattning : Quantum technologies promise to revolutionize a variety of fields such as metrology, cryptography or computing, among others. The resources that quantum mechanics offers allow us to design faster optimization algorithms, to provide unconditional security in communications and to measure quantities beyond the grasp of current technology. 4. Attosecond photoelectron interferometry: from wavepackets to density matrices
Sammanfattning : Through the advent of high-order harmonic generation and attosecond light pulses, photoionization dynamics has been studied on the attosecond time-scale, the intrinsic time-scale of such dynamics. When the electron leaves the atomic potential a phase shift is imprinted on the electron wavefunction. LÄS MER
5. Optimization of High-order Harmonic Generation for Attosecond Science
Sammanfattning : High-order harmonic generation is a highly nonlinear, though inherently inefficient, process which can lead to emission of coherent, broadband extreme ultraviolet radiation in the form of attosecond pulses. Attosecond pulses are crucial for experiments investigating photoionization dynamics on the femto- and attosecond timescales. LÄS MER
