21. There's Plenty of Room in Higher Dimensions - Nonlinear Dynamics of Nanoelectromechanical Systems
Sammanfattning : Nanoelectromechanical systems (NEMS) couple the dynamics of electrons to vibrating nanostructures such as suspended beams or membranes. These resonators can be used in for instance nanoelectronics and sensor applications. NEMS are also of fundamental interest since electrons exhibit strong quantum effects when confined in nanoobjects. LÄS MER
22. Three-body Universality Controlled by a Feshbach Resonance
Sammanfattning : The quantum Efimov effect manifests itself in the limit of resonant two-body interactions, where the scattering length diverges. In this scenario, an infinite number of shallow bound trimer states are formed with binding energies that obey a discrete geometric scaling law. LÄS MER
23. Properties of small Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 intrinsic Josephson junctions: confinement, flux-flow and resonant phenomena
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, intrinsic Josephson junctions, naturally formed in the strongly anisotropic high-temperature superconductor Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 (Bi-2212), are studied experimentally. For this purpose, small mesa structures are fabricated on the surface of single crystals using micro- and nano-fabrication tools, focused ion beam is used to reduce the area of the mesa-structures down to ≈ 1 × 1 μm2. 24. Attosecond photoelectron interferometry: from wavepackets to density matrices
Sammanfattning : Through the advent of high-order harmonic generation and attosecond light pulses, photoionization dynamics has been studied on the attosecond time-scale, the intrinsic time-scale of such dynamics. When the electron leaves the atomic potential a phase shift is imprinted on the electron wavefunction. LÄS MER
25. Theoretical studies of collective electronic excitations in low-dimensional structures
Sammanfattning : During the past decade, nanoplasmonics and nanophotonicshas emerged as a new branch of nanosciences with many novelapplications. Central in this development is the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) tunable by the sizes and shapes at nanometer scale. LÄS MER
