11. Genetic Analysis of Quantitative Traits Using Domestic Animals : A Candidate Gene and Genome Scanning Approach
Sammanfattning : Domestication has led to genetic changes that affect quantitative traits in farm animals. Both candidate gene analysis using association tests and genome scans based on linkage analysis have been performed to understand the molecular basis underlying quantitative genetic variation in horses, pigs and chickens. 12. Kvantitativa studier av syntaxen i finsk ungdomslitteratur
Sammanfattning : The aim of this study is to investigate the syntax in Finnish literature for young people in order to arrive at fundamental information about the character of the language in literature of this kind. The corpus consists of three Tiina books by Anni Polva. My method is mainly quantitative, but also comparative. LÄS MER
13. A Quantitative Rule System for Musical Performance
Sammanfattning : A rule system is described that translates an input score file to a musical performance. The rules model different principles of interpretation used by real musicians, such as phrasing, punctuation, harmonic and melodic structure, micro timing, accents, intonation, and final ritard. 14. Quantitative studies of changes in microstructure and activity during ageing of supported catalysts
Sammanfattning : Catalytic converters have substantially contributed to the improvement of air quality in populated areas in the last decades by abatement of the emission of hazardous componentssuch as CO, unburned hydrocarbons and NOx. However, due to the exposure to high temperature and different components in the exhaust gas, the performance of the catalysts degrades with time. LÄS MER
15. Quantitative Laser Doppler Flowmetry
Sammanfattning : Laser Doppler flowmetry (LDF) is virtually the only non-invasive technique, except for other laser speckle based techniques, that enables estimation of the microcirculatory blood flow. The technique was introduced into the field of biomedical engineering in the 1970s, and a rapid evolvement followed during the 1980s with fiber based systems and improved signal analysis. LÄS MER
