  1. 1. Plant biology through quantitative proteomics

    Författare :Joakim Bygdell; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Over the last decade the field of mass spectrometry based proteomics has advanced from qualitative, analyses leading to publications revolving around lists of identified proteins and peptides, to addressing more biologically relevant issues requiring measurement of the abundance of identified proteins and hence quantitive mass spectrometry. The work described in this thesis addresses problems with quantitive proteomics in plant sciences, particularly complications caused by the complexity of plant proteomes (generated by genomic duplications), which makes mass spectrometry-based based proteomic analyses more difficult than in mammalian species. 2. 2. The Heterocysts of Nostoc punctiforme : From Proteomics to Energy Transfer

    Författare :Tanai Cardona; Ann Magnuson; Matthias Rögner; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nostoc punctiforme; heterocyst; photosynthesis; thylakoid; isolation; proteomics; photosystem; energy transfer; hydrogen; Biochemistry; Biokemi; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to provide a thorough characterization of the photosynthetic machinery from the heterocysts of Nostoc punctiforme strain ATCC 29133. In this thesis I describe the protocols I have optimized for the isolation of thylakoids from vegetative cells, the purification of heterocysts and the isolation of thylakoids from the purified heterocysts. 3. 3. Molecular and epidemiological studies on eyes with pseudoexfoliation syndrome

    Författare :Amelie Botling Taube; Jonas Bergquist; Albert Alm; Eva Larsson; Hannu Uusitalo; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pseduoexfoliation syndrome; PEX; aqueous humor; cataract; cataract surgery; lens capsule; proteomics; mass spectrometry; MS; MALDI TOF MS MS; quantitative proteomics; iTRAQ; dimethyl labeling; imaging mass spectrometry; IMS; time of flight secondary ion mass spectrometry; TOF-SIMS; crystallin; epidemiology; risk factor; Ophtalmology; Oftalmiatrik;

    Sammanfattning : Pseudoexfoliation (PEX) syndrome is an age-related condition characterized by the production and accumulation of extracellular fibrillary material in the anterior segment of the eye. PEX predisposes for several pathological conditions, such as glaucoma and complications during and after cataract surgery. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Global Proteome Survey -Transforming antibody-based affinity proteomics into a global discovery platform

    Författare :Niclas Olsson; Institutionen för immunteknologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; affinity proteomics; recombinant antibodies; Proteomics; mass spectrometry; proteome profiling; breast cancer; antibody specificity;

    Sammanfattning : Proteomics is expected to generate new insights into biological processes as well as identify novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets since most biological functions are transmitted through proteins. However, due to the complexity displayed by a proteome and inherent limitations associated with current methodologies, proteomic analyses often result in incomplete coverage and inconsistent measurements. 5. 5. Quality Control for high-throughput Quantitative Proteomics - Harnessing the potential of label-free LC-MS

    Författare :Marianne Sandin; Institutionen för immunteknologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; proteomics; mass spectrometry; quality control; data analysis; label-free; feature detection; alignment; biomarker discovery; separation techniques;

    Sammanfattning : Multiplex protein quantification, proteomics, is essential for uncovering new biomarkers and understanding biology. Liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (LC-MS) is the predominant technique for these measurements. LÄS MER
