1. Quantitative Bioanalysis : Liquid separations coupled to targeted mass spectrometric measurements of bioactive compounds
Sammanfattning : Performing quantitative analysis of targeted bioactive compounds in biological samples, such as blood plasma, cerebrospinal fluid or extracts from pig liver, put high demands on the ruggedness of the method acquiring the results. In addition to the complexity of the sample matrix, the bioactive compounds targeted for analysis usually have low levels of natural abundance, further increasing the demand on the analytical method sensitivity. 2. Quantitative imaging with PET : performance and applications of 76Br, 52Fe, 110mIn and 134La
Sammanfattning : The use of positron emission tomography (PET) has so far mainly been limited to a few nuclides with short half-lives such as 11C and 18F. Certain applications require nuclides with longer half-lives, such as 76Br and 52Fe. LÄS MER
3. Quantitative image analysis : a focus on automated characterization of structures in optical microscopy of iron ore pellets
Sammanfattning : Sintering occurs in many types of material such as iron, ceramics and snow, typically during thermal treatment, and aects the material properties, particularly the strength, by the bonding of particles into a coherent structure. In order to improve the mechanical strength in magnetite iron ore pellets it is important to be able to characterize and quantitatively measure the degree of sintering and features that impact the process of sintering. 4. Quantitative Assessment of Intelligent Transport Systems for Road Freight Transport
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, methods for using computer-based models as support tools for assessing Transport Telematic Services (TTSs) are studied. Such assessments provide one way to understand how TTSs can address problems caused by transportation, such as accidents, emissions, and energy consumption. LÄS MER
5. Psychosocial aspects of living with congenital heart disease : child, family, and professional perspectives
Sammanfattning : Background: The vast majority of infants born with congenital heart disease (CHD) reach adulthood because of the developments in cardiology in recent decades. This thesis aims to describe the psychosocial situation of child/adolescent cardiac patients and their families, investigate the situation faced by parents and siblings initially and over time, investigate the approaches paediatric cardiologists use in encountering the family, and describe the teamwork occurring in paediatric cardiology teams (PCTs) in Sweden.
