1. Stochastic Event-Based Control and Estimation
Sammanfattning : Digital controllers are traditionally implemented using periodic sampling, computation, and actuation events. As more control systems are implemented to share limited network and CPU bandwidth with other tasks, it is becoming increasingly attractive to use some form of event-based control instead, where precious events are used only when needed. 2. Statistical Sensor Calibration Algorithms
Sammanfattning : The use of sensors is ubiquitous in our IT-based society; smartphones, consumer electronics, wearable devices, healthcare systems, industries, and autonomous cars, to name but a few, rely on quantitative measurements for their operations. Measurements require sensors, but sensor readings are corrupted not only by noise but also, in almost all cases, by deviations resulting from the fact that the characteristics of the sensors typically deviate from their ideal characteristics. 3. Adaptive Finite Element Methods for Compressible Two-Phase Flow
Sammanfattning : In this thesis we develop, apply and analyse adaptive finite element methods with error control for compressible flow problems, focusing in particular on two-phase flow. The adaptive algorithms, aiming at quantitative error control with efficient use of computational resources, are based on a posteriori error estimates, where the error is estimated in terms of the computed solution, the local mesh-size and certain stability factors. 4. Quantitative EEG analysis : temporal variability and clinical applications
Sammanfattning : The quantification of the EEG power (qEEG) in different frequency bands, and their spatial distribution improve the sensitivity of the technique, although questions have been raised about the reproducibility of the results. The aim of the present work was to study the reproducibility of some quantitative parameters in clinical routine EEG, and their clinical application in the study of patients with type I diabetes. 5. Discrete and Continuous Shape Writing for Text Entry and Control
Sammanfattning : Mobile devices gain increasing computational power and storage capabilities, and there are already mobile phones that can show movies, act as digital music players and offer full-scale web browsing. The bottleneck for information flow is however limited by the inefficient communication channel between the user and the small device. LÄS MER
