  1. 6. Uncertainty and Risk Analysis in Fire Safety Engineering

    Författare :Håkan Frantzich; Avdelningen för Brandteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; event tree; fire engineering design; reliability index; FOSM; Monte Carlo simulation; Risk analysis; uncertainty analysis; response surface.; Technological sciences; Teknik;

    Sammanfattning : Two Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA) methods are presented which can be used to quantify the risk to occupants in, for example, a building in which a fire has broken out. The extended QRA considers the inherent uncertainty in the variables explicitly. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Fresh Perspectives on the Assessment of Sewage Sludge Management

    Författare :Robin Harder; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; life cycle assessment; biosolids; land application; sewage sludge; pathogen risk; risk assessment; life cycle impact assessment; human toxicity; wastewater; chemical risks;

    Sammanfattning : Sewage sludge management and its role in closing nutrient cycles have received considerable attention in recent years. This thesis quantified phosphorus flows in Gothenburg, Sweden, under current and possible future waste management practices, and aimed to improve the assessment of wastewater and sludge management from an environmental and human health perspective through blending risk assessment (RA) and life cycle assessment (LCA). 3. 8. Ensuring the intended volume is given the intended absorbed dose in radiotherapy: Managing geometric variations and treatment hazards

    Författare :Ola Holmberg; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; medical instrumentation; tomography; radiology; Clinical physics; safety; risk; hazard; organ motion; set-up; margins; volume definition; radiotherapy; accuracy; Klinisk fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering; Radiopharmaceutical technology; Radiofarmaceutisk teknik;

    Sammanfattning : Methods for ensuring that the intended volume receives the intended absorbed dose in radiotherapy have been investigated. In order to optimise radiation treatment of cancer, geometric variations in the treatment chain need to be controlled. Furthermore, hazards potentially leading to unintended irradiation need to be controlled. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Applications of Bayesian Econometrics to Financial Economics

    Författare :Christoffer Bengtsson; Nationalekonomiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; economic systems; economic theory; econometrics; Economics; systemic risk; stochastic volatility; jump-diffusion; shrinkage; covariance matrix estimation; estimation risk; portfolio selection; mean-variance optimization; Markov chain Monte Carlo; Bayesian econometrics; ekonomisk politik; ekonomiska system; ekonomisk teori; ekonometri; Nationalekonomi; economic policy;

    Sammanfattning : This PhD thesis consists of four separate papers. What these papers have in common is that Bayesian Econometrics, in combination with Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) methods, is applied to study various problems in financial economics. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Neck Injury Risk in Rear-End Impacts. Risk Factors and Neck Injury Criterion Evaluation with Madymo Modelling and Real-Life Data

    Författare :Linda Eriksson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; injury criteria; rear-end impacts; neck injuries; mathematical modelling; injury probability; head restraints; BioRID; NICmax; risk factors; WAD; car seats;

    Sammanfattning : Soft-tissue neck injuries, also termed AIS 1 neck injuries, are common after low-speed rear-end impacts. These injuries, which can be long-lasting, have increased in frequency during the past few decades. There is no consensus regarding injury mechanisms; however, injury criteria have been proposed, without yet being fully evaluated. LÄS MER
