  1. 6. Inflammasomes : defense guardians in host-microbe defence

    Författare :Berolla Sahdo; Eva Särndahl; Bo Söderquist; Anna Norrby Teglund; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Innate immunity; inflammasome; leukocytes; cytokines; Staphylococcus aureus; Propionibacterium acnes; inflammation; infection; gene variants; polymorphism.; Biomedicin; Biomedicine;

    Sammanfattning : The inflammasomes are emerging as key regulators of the innate immune response as they response to cellular infection, tissue damage and/or stress. Activated inflammasomes provide a signalling platform for caspase-1 activation which subsequently processes the maturation of interleukin (IL)-1β and IL-18, and in addition promotes cell death, named pyroptosis. 2. 7. Following the white rabbit : release and regulation of HMGB1 in inflammation

    Författare :Agnieszka Sowinska; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Dysregulated inflammatory responses are characterized by excessive release of endogenous pro-inflammatory molecules, danger-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs). A prototypical DAMP, High Mobility Group Box 1 protein (HMGB1), is primarily bound to DNA in the nucleus of most eukaryotic cells. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Survival strategies of Mycobacterium tuberculosis inside the human macrophage

    Författare :Amanda Welin; Maria Lerm; Olle Stendahl; Peter Peters; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) is the bacterium responsible for tuberculosis (TB). For decades, it was believed that TB was a disease of the past, but the onset of the HIV epidemic resulting in a greatly increased number of TB cases, the emergence of antibiotic resistant Mtb strains, and the relative ineffectiveness of the BCG vaccine have put TB back on the agenda. 4. 9. Studies of the immunopathogenesis of arthritis, with an emphasis on the alarmin HMGB1

    Författare :Heshuang Qu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Dysregulated inflammatory responses are characterized by the excessive release of endogenous inflammatory molecules, which initiate a chain of reactions, including immune cell infiltration, activation, polarization, necrosis, apoptosis and pyroptosis. These changes in cell distribution and status can lead to tissue damage, represented by swelling, pain, redness, heat and loss of function. LÄS MER
