16. On Linear Transmission Systems
Sammanfattning : This thesis is divided into two parts. Part I analyzes the information rate of single antenna, single carrier linear modulation systems. The information rate of a system is the maximum number of bits that can be transmitted during a channel usage, and is achieved by Gaussian symbols. LÄS MER
17. Modelling depression in animals and the potential antidepressant effect of histaminergic modulation
Sammanfattning : Depression is at the top position for "years lived with disability" (Smith, 2014). Its aetiology is unknown, but the pathogenesis implicates changes in glutamatergic neuronal plasticity. Glutamatergic plasticity likely mediates the effects of antidepressants acting through monoamines. LÄS MER
18. Afferent input to midbrain dopamine neurones and its modulation : an electrophysiological study i vitro
Sammanfattning : Dopamine (DA) neurones of the ventral mesencephalon are involved in the control of reward related behaviour, cognitive functions and motor performances, and provide a critical site of action for major categories of neuropsychiatric drugs, such as antipsychotic agents, dependence producing drugs and anti-Parkinson medication. The midbrain DA neurones are mainly located in the substantia nigra pars compacta (SNPC) and the ventral tegmental area (VTA). LÄS MER
19. Longer Wavelength GaAs-Based VCSELs for Extended-Reach Optical Interconnects
Sammanfattning : Data centers of today are increasing in size and are built to accommodate strong traffic demands while providing sustainably by having clients sharing resources under one roof. Their massive scale puts pressure on the server network topology and has incited a need for data transmission links that are energy efficient and capable of operation at high bit rates with reach up to a few kilometers. 20. Phase-Sensitive Parametric Signal Processing in Optical Communications
Sammanfattning : This thesis covers the analysis of several schemes for parametric processing in fiberoptic communication systems, focusing mainly on phase-sensitive processing. Vector phase-sensitive amplifiers are characterized and phase regeneration of a dualpolarization (DP)-binary phase-shift keying signal (BPSK) signal is experimentally demonstrated. LÄS MER
