1. Laser Remote Sensing for Environmental Monitoring
Sammanfattning : This thesis studies the techniques of laser remote sensing and their applications in environmental monitoring, as documented in several published papers. The environment where the human being live is degrading with an accelerating speed. LÄS MER
2. Multi-Channel Acquisition and Visualization of the Dolphin Echolocation Beam – Instrumentation Design and Bioacoustic Results
Sammanfattning : Toothed whales (Odontocetes) use echolocation to navigate and find food in dark or murky waters. A wide range of innovative studies has since the 1960:s been used to characterize their echolocation beam and map out their echolocation skills. LÄS MER
3. Flight Simulator Training : Assessing the Potential
Sammanfattning : Mental workload is an important concept and has been proven to be a precursor to situation awareness and operative performance. This thesis describes methods to measure mental workload through self-ratings and psychophysiological measurements. LÄS MER
4. Attosecond Optical and Electronic Wave Packets
Sammanfattning : When a low-frequency laser pulse is focused to a high intensity in a gas, the electric field of the laser may become comparable to, or even exceed, the electric field between the electrons and the nucleus in the atom. Under such conditions, through a process known as high-order harmonic generation, bursts of extreme ultraviolet radiation may be emitted, with durations in the attosecond domain (1 as = 10^{-18} s), which is the time-scale of electronic processes. 5. Vertical Nanowire High-Frequency Transistors
Sammanfattning : This thesis explores a novel transistor technology based on vertical InAs nanowires, which could be considered both for low-power high-frequency analog applications and for replacing Si CMOS in the continued scaling of digital electronics. The potential of this device - the vertical InAs nanowire MOSFET – lies in the combination of the outstanding transport properties of InAs and the improved electrostatic control of the gate-all-around geometry.
