  1. 21. Energy Export Opportunities from Kraft Pulp and Paper Mills and Resulting Reductions in Global CO2 Emissions

    Författare :Erik Marcus Kristian Axelsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy export; Heat integration; Energy savings; Kraft pulp and paper mill; Global CO2 emissions;

    Sammanfattning : With increasing energy prices and increasing demand for CO2-lean energy sources, energy savings in the pulp and paper industry become ever more relevant. Significant energy savings in kraft mills can be made by e.g. improved heat integration and installation of an energy-efficient evaporation plant. LÄS MER

  2. 22. From recovery boiler to integration of a textile fiber plant : Combination of mass balance analysis and chemical engineering

    Författare :Hans Magnusson; Ulf Germgård; Gunnar Henriksson; Hans Theliander; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; kraft pulping; recovery boiler; smelt properties; non-process elements; oxygen delignification; viscose manufacturing; integrated production; regenerated cellulose; sulfatmassa; fysikaliska egenskaper; smälta; sodapanna; processfrämmande ämnen; bioraffinaderi; integrerad produktion; regenererad cellulosa; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Modern chemical technology is an efficient tool for solving problems, particularly within the complex environment of the pulp and paper industry, and the combination of experimental studies, mill data and mass balance calculations are of fundamental importance to the development of the industry. In this study various examples are presented, whereby chemical technology is of fundamental importance. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Fish bile in environmental analysis

    Författare :Margaretha Adolfsson-Erici; Michael McLachlan; Lillemor Asplund; Freek Ariese; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fish bile estrogenic triclosan rubber additives pulp and paper; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Sammanfattning : This work explores the usefulness of fish bile analysis in combination with biomarkers for identifying and evaluating new environmental contaminants in the aquatic environment. It illustrates how bile analysis can be used together with biomarkers to assess the causes of estrogenic effects, to identify chemicals in the aquatic environment that are taken up by fish, and to monitor environmental exposure. 4. 24. Radiocesium in the forest and forest industry, Studies on the flow, occurrence and technological enhancement of radionuclides in the forest industry with emphasis on radiocesium

    Författare :Aaro Ravila; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; forestry technology; forestry; recovery; Recycling; enhancement; fallout; radiocesium; wood; ash; biofuel; Silviculture; radiation.; Skogsvetenskap; skogsbruk; skogsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : In the aftermath of the nuclear weapons testing and as compared with agriculture, the forest industry has received relatively little attention in spite of its large-scale use of radiocesium- contaminated wood and water. After the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident in 1986, numerous studies of the forest environment have been conducted with respect to radionuclide transfer through the forest ecosystem or its many components. 5. 25. Evaluation of process parameters and treatments of different raw materials for biogas production

    Författare :Malik Badshah; Bioteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Anaerobic digestion; biogas; lignocellulosics; inoculum to substrate ratio; feed composition; toxicity; furaldehydes; paper and pulp sludges.;

    Sammanfattning : The anaerobic digestion process results in the production of biogas from a large diversity of organic residues, which can be used as an alternate source of energy generation and for waste management. However, the biogas production technology is not exploited efficiently due to the characteristics of raw materials, poor methane yields, process instability, limited raw materials and lack of knowledge about the process.
