    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to analyze the establishment and development of lectureships in the Swedish language in German universities during the first half of the 20th century. Building on earlier research about the role of language teaching abroad for public diplomacy, the study sees the lecturer as a part of both the the academic and political fields in Germany and Sweden.     Sammanfattning : BACKGROUND: Several studies reveal that inadequate knowledge exist regarding mental illness among the general population as well as stigmatizing attitudes towards persons suffering from a mental illness. The public s attitudes towards mental illness and people with mental illness can be summarised with the inference that the majority consider people with mental illness are in need of help and entitled to receive support; thus support the idea of social integration of individuals with mental illness.     Sammanfattning : This thesis studies how the proliferation of performance measurement within Swedish universities has affected the way university actors perceive academic work. The wide diffusion of performance measures in academia is conceptualised as a reflection of changes in the wider societal culture that may be attributed to comprehensive public sector reforms, the globalisation of the higher education sector and novel perspectives and expectations on universities.
