  1. 1. Restructuring the socially anxious brain : Using magnetic resonance imaging to advance our understanding of effective cognitive behaviour therapy for social anxiety disorder

    Författare :Kristoffer N. T. Månsson; Gerhard Andersson; Tomas Furmark; Per Carlbring; C-J Boraxbekk; Philippe Goldin; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Social anxiety disorder SAD ; Cognitive behaviour therapy CBT ; Amygdala; Multimodal neuroimaging; Support vector machine learning SVM ; Social ångest; Kognitiv beteendeterapi; Hjärnavbildning; Amygdala; Magnetresonanstomografi;

    Sammanfattning : Social anxiety disorder (SAD) is a common psychiatric disorder associated with considerable suffering. Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) has been shown to be effective but a significant proportion does not respond or relapses, stressing the need of augmenting treatment. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Gaze control in episodic memory

    Författare :Linus Holm; Timo Mäntylä; Bruno Laeng; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Psychology; Psykologi; Psychology; psykologi; Psychology; psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : The role of gaze control in episodic recognition was investigated in two studies. In Study 1, participants encoded human faces inverted or upright, with or without eye movements (Experiment 1) and under sorting or rating tasks (Experiment 2) respectively. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Bounded Rationality and Exemplar Models

    Författare :Magnus Persson; Peter Juslin; Nick Chater; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Psychology; PROBEX; Lazy Algorithm; Probabilistic Inference; Decision Making; Bounded Rationality; Ecological Rationality; Take The Best; exemplar models; correspondence; Psykologi; Psychology; Psykologi; Psychology; psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Bounded rationality is the study of how human cognition with limited capacity is adapted to handle the complex information structures in the environment. This thesis argues that in order to understand the bounded rationality of decision processes, it is necessary to develop decision theories that are computational process models based upon basic cognitive and perceptual mechanisms. 4. 4. Stereotypes: Suppression, Forgetting, and False Memory

    Författare :Tadesse Araya; Georg Stenberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Social psychology; Stereotype suppression; stereotype control; prejudice; priming; directed forgetting; DRM paradigm; false recall; false recognition; Socialpsykologi; Psychology; Psykologi; Psychology; psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents four studies investigating (1) whether incidentally primed control-related words can attenuate the impact of activated stereotypes on subsequent evaluation of a target person, (2) the impact of motivated forgetting on the recall of stereotypically congruent and incongruent information, and (3) the impact of a directed forgetting instruction on the false recall and recognition of nonpresented stereotypical information.In three experiments, Study I showed that participants initially primed with the social category, immigrant, and subsequently primed with words that were evocative of control or self-control made less negative impression of a target displaying ambiguous behaviors than participants not exposed to such words. 5. 5. Emotional Reactions to Music : Prevalence and Contributing Factors

    Författare :Simon Liljeström; Patrik N Juslin; Petri Toiviainen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; music; emotion; personality; survey; experience sampling method; experiment; Psychology; Psykologi; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : People value music mainly for its abilities to induce emotions. Yet little is known about these experiences. The aim of this thesis was thus to investigate the nature and prevalence of emotional reactions to music, and what factors in the listener, the music, and the situation might contribute to such reactions.
