    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; design; design research; design theory; design history; history of design; industrial design; participatory design; co-design; user-centered design; Scandinavian design; Swedish design; history of ideas; design; designforskning; designteori; designhistoria; industridesign; deltagande design; samskapande; användarcentrerad design; skandinavisk design; svensk design; folkhemmet; idéhistoria; design; design; industrial design; industridesign; idé- och lärdomshistoria; History Of Sciences and Ideas; History; historia;

    Sammanfattning : Design practices are to a large degree conceptually and methodologically based in ways of designing rooted in the 20th century. Some of the challenges that arise in contemporary design stem from an unawareness of design’s historicity, and the discrepancies between what design methods and concepts once were made to handle, and what we presently try to apply them to. 2. 2. Design Space Exploration : co-operative creation of proposals for desired interactions with future artefacts

    Författare :Bo Westerlund; Yngve Sundblad; Peter Ullmark; Elizabeth B.-N. Sanders; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Design process; co-operative design; participatory design; prototype; video prototype; attention; industrial design; design space; prop; Design;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis critically reflects on co-operative design workshops that I have conducted. The basic method used in these workshops draws on the participants’ embodied knowing. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Transtructures : prototyping transitional practices for the design of postindustrial infrastructures

    Författare :Lorenzo Davoli; Johan Redström; Cameron Tonkinwise; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Infrastructures; transition design; postindustrial design; system design; drones; participation; design practices; automation; hacking; logistic; telecommunications; sustainable development; hållbar utveckling; design; design;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation is about 'transtructures', a term coined to describe new kinds of infrastructures that are more attentive and responsive to the needs of contemporary society, its emerging economies and technological capabilities. The purpose of this inquiry is to begin to explore the character and possibilities of a design practice that could guide responsibly and ethically the transition of existing industrial infrastructures towards these new configurations: what processes it could follow, and what materials it could include. 4. 4. Innovation in a Changing World : Exploring PSS Design through Prototyping

    Författare :Ryan Ruvald; Alessandro Bertoni; Andreas Larsson; Christian Johansson Askling; Blekinge Tekniska Högskola; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Product-Service System Design; Design Thinking; Prototypes; Boundary Objects; Maskinteknik; Mechanical Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Customers across all sectors have increasing expectations (e.g. value, efficiency, availability, quality, etc.) and expanding needs which traditional business models fail to address simultaneously and stand-alone products cannot be expected to solve. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Distributed Participatory Design in Multidisciplinary Engineering Projects: Investigating a Sustainable Approach for Ship Design & Construction

    Författare :Steven Mallam; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; User-Centred Design; Naval Architecture; Ergonomics; Built Environment; Maritime; Industrial Design; Knowledge Transfer; Technology Acceptance;

    Sammanfattning : Naval architecture design procedures focus primarily on the technical aspects of engineering specifications, mission requirements and overall survivability of ships and marine structures. In contrast, often little attention or importance is placed on the operational demands of onboard crew and the detailed design characteristics of a ship’s work environment. LÄS MER
