1. Innovations in nanomaterials for proton exchange membrane fuel cells
Sammanfattning : Hydrogen technologies are rapidly receiving increased attention as it offers a renewable energy alternative to the current petroleum-based fuel infrastructure, considering that continued large-scale use of such fossil fuels will lead to disastrous impacts on our environment. The proton exchange membrane fuel cell should play a significant role in a hydrogen economy since it enables convenient and direct conversion of hydrogen into electricity, thus allowing the use of hydrogen in applications particularly suited for the transportation industry. 2. On direct hydrogen fuel cell vehicles : modelling and demonstration
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, direct hydrogen Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cell systems in vehicles are investigated through modelling, field tests and public acceptance surveys. A computer model of a 50 kW PEM fuel cell system was developed. The fuel cell system efficiency is approximately 50% between 10 and 45% of the rated power. LÄS MER
3. Modelling of a proton exchange membrane fuel cell system for automotive applications

4. Platinum-Based Nanocatalysts for Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells
Sammanfattning : Fuel cells have potential to become an integral technology in a future sustainable energy system. For transport applications, the proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) is the most promising option, exhibiting light weight and high energy density. LÄS MER
5. Electrode degradation in proton exchange membrane fuel cells
Sammanfattning : The topic of this thesis is the degradation of fuel cell electrodes in proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). In particular, the degradation associated with localized fuel starvation, which is often encountered during start-ups and shut-downs (SUs/SDs) of PEMFCs. At SU/SD, O2 and H2 usually coexist in the anode compartment. LÄS MER
