1. Mini-Jet Production in Proton-Antiproton Interactions and Particle Production in Heavy-Ion Collisions
Sammanfattning : The thesis is based on the data analysis and detector development of the EMU01/CERN, E863/BNL and UA1/CERN experiments. Particle fluctuations are studied with the scaled factorial moments in the fragmentation region of oxygen-induced emulsion interactions from 3.7 to 200 A GeV. LÄS MER
2. On a Hydrogen Pellet Target for Antiproton Physics with PANDA
Sammanfattning : The PANDA experiment is a part of the future FAIR accelerator facility and will study the strong interaction by detecting the reaction products from antiproton-proton annihilations in a near full solid-angle configuration. One option for the internal proton target in PANDA is frozen micro-spheres of hydrogen, so-called pellets. LÄS MER
3. Interplay between soft and hard processes in quantum chromodynamics
Sammanfattning : In QCD, the theory of strong interactions, hard processes with large momentum transfers can be calculated using perturbation theory, while soft processes with small momentum transfers are poorly understood. In this thesis, phenomenological models of soft and hard QCD processes are developed and tested. LÄS MER
4. Time-Based Reconstruction of Hyperons at PANDA at FAIR
Sammanfattning : The PANDA (anti-Proton ANnihilation at DArmstadt) experiment at the future FAIR (Facility for Anti-proton and Ion Research) offers unique possibilities for performing hyperon physics. The almost full 4π coverage of the detector will enable the reconstruction of both hyperon and antihyperon which will be created together in proton-antiproton collisions. 5. Developments for the FPGA-Based Digitiser in the PANDA Electromagnetic Calorimeters
Sammanfattning : The strong interaction between quarks and gluons is one of the fundamental interactions described by the standard model of particle physics. Systems of quarks bound together by the strong interaction are known as hadrons, of which the proton and the neutron are the most common examples. LÄS MER
