  1. 6. Proteomics in biomarker research : Insights into the effects of aging and environment on biological systems

    Författare :Hanna Amelina; Susana Cristobal; Jean-Charles Sanchez; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; proteomics; biomarker; peroxisomes; 2-dimensional gel electrophoresis 2-DE ; mass spectrometry MS ; aging; marine pollution; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Environmental toxicology; Miljötoxikologi; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Proteomics is the global analysis of proteins that covers a broad range of technologies aimed at determining the identity and quantity of proteins expressed in the cell, their three-dimensional structure and interaction partners. In contrast to genome, proteome reflects more accurately on the dynamic state of the cell, tissue, or an organism. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Databases for antibody-based proteomics

    Författare :Erik Björling; Mathias Uhlén; Alvis Brazma; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; proteomics; antibodies; database; biomarker; website; Bioengineering; Bioteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Humans are believed to have ~20,500 protein-coding genes andmuch effort has over the last years been put into the characterizationand localization of the encoded proteins in order to understand theirfunctions. One such effort is the Human Proteome Resource (HPR)project, started in Sweden 2003 with the aim to generate specificantibodies to each human protein and to use those antibodies toanalyze the human proteome by screening human tissues and cells. 3. 8. The Heterocysts of Nostoc punctiforme : From Proteomics to Energy Transfer

    Författare :Tanai Cardona; Ann Magnuson; Matthias Rögner; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nostoc punctiforme; heterocyst; photosynthesis; thylakoid; isolation; proteomics; photosystem; energy transfer; hydrogen; Biochemistry; Biokemi; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to provide a thorough characterization of the photosynthetic machinery from the heterocysts of Nostoc punctiforme strain ATCC 29133. In this thesis I describe the protocols I have optimized for the isolation of thylakoids from vegetative cells, the purification of heterocysts and the isolation of thylakoids from the purified heterocysts. 4. 9. Global Proteome Survey -Transforming antibody-based affinity proteomics into a global discovery platform

    Författare :Niclas Olsson; Institutionen för immunteknologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; affinity proteomics; recombinant antibodies; Proteomics; mass spectrometry; proteome profiling; breast cancer; antibody specificity;

    Sammanfattning : Proteomics is expected to generate new insights into biological processes as well as identify novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets since most biological functions are transmitted through proteins. However, due to the complexity displayed by a proteome and inherent limitations associated with current methodologies, proteomic analyses often result in incomplete coverage and inconsistent measurements. 5. 10. Biomarker Discovery in Cancer using Affinity Proteomics - Studies of B-cell lymphomas and Breast Cancer

    Författare :Frida Pauly; Institutionen för immunteknologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Proteomics; affinity proteomics; antibody microarray; cancer; B-cell lymphoma; breast cancer; biomarker discovery;

    Sammanfattning : The continual increase in incidence of cancer has created an urgent need for improved methods for diagnosis, prognosis and/or treatment. In this context, the field of biomarker research has expanded immensely during the last few years. This thesis, based on four original papers, revolves around protein biomarker discovery in cancer.
