  1. 1. Antibody based plasma protein profiling

    Författare :Ulrika Qundos; Jochen M. Schwenk; Peter Nilsson; Mathias Uhlén; Ulrike Korf; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; protein profiling; plasma; antibody; affinity proteomics; biomark- ers; multiplex; assay development;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is about protein profiling in serum and plasma using antibody suspension bead arrays for the analysis of biobanked samples and in the context of prostate cancer biomarker discovery. The influence of sample preparation methods on antibody based protein profiles were investigated (Papers I-III) and a prostate cancer candidate biomarker identified and verified (Papers III-V). 2. 2. Validation of antibodies for protein profiling : A study using immunohistochemistry on tissue microarrays

    Författare :Linda Paavilainen; Fredrik Pontén; Ola Nilsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; antibody validation; monospecific antibodies; protein profiling; immunohistochemistry; tissue microarrays; western blot; fixatives; Pathology; Patologi; Pathology; patologi;

    Sammanfattning : The field of proteomics has rapidly expanded due to the completion of the human genome sequence. This thesis validates affinity-purified monospecific antibodies of polyclonal origin, for protein profiling in a broad spectrum of normal tissues and cells. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Protein Profiling and Type 2 Diabetes

    Författare :Tea Sundsten; Peter Bergsten; Leif Jansson; Maria Sörhede Winzell; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Cell biology; Type 2 diabetes; Protein profiling; SELDI-TOF MS; Proteomics; Cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a heterogeneous disease affecting millions of people worldwide. Both genetic and environmental factors contribute to the pathogenesis. The disease is characterized by alterations in many genes and their products. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Development of Techniques for Characterization, Detection and Protein Profiling of Extracellular Vesicles

    Författare :Sara Cavallaro; Jan Linnros; Apurba Dev; Hakho Lee; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; extracellular vesicles; streaming current; fluorescence microscopy; atomic force microscopy; scanning electron microscopy; protein profiling; size profiling; Biological and Biomedical Physics; Biologisk och biomedicinsk fysik;

    Sammanfattning : Nanosized extracellular vesicles (EVs, ∼30-2000 nm) have emerged as important mediators of intercellular communication, offering opportunities for both diagnostics and therapeutics. In particular, small EVs generated from the endolysosomal pathway (∼30-150 nm), referred to as exosomes, have attracted interest as a suitable biomarker for cancer diagnostics and treatment monitoring based on minimally invasive liquid biopsies. 5. 5. DNA-Mediated Detection and Profiling of Protein Complexes

    Författare :Maria Hammond; Ulf Landegren; Masood Kamali-Moghaddam; Christof Niemeyer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Proximity ligation assay; Protein complexes; Protein interactions; Biomarkers; Prions; Antibodies; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Proteins are the effector molecules of life. They are encoded in DNA that is inherited from generation to generation, but most cellular functions are executed by proteins. Proteins rarely act on their own – most actions are carried out through an interplay of tens of proteins and other biomolecules. LÄS MER
