16. Protein Dynamics Studied by NMR. Kinetics of the Adipocyte Fatty Acid-Binding Protein and Oligomerisation of the Low Molecular Weight Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase
Sammanfattning : Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) has been used to determine the kinetics of ligand binding to the adipocyte fatty acid-binding protein (A-FABP), as well as the oligomerisation and inter- and intramolecular dynamics of the low molecular weight-protein tyrosine phosphatase (LMW-PTP) in solution. NMR spectroscopy is sensitive to dynamic processes on timescales ranging from picoseconds to days. LÄS MER
17. Viral Control of SR Protein Activity
Sammanfattning : Viruses modulate biosynthetic machineries of the host cell for a rapid and efficient virus replication. One important way of modulating protein activity in eukaryotic cells is by reversible phosphorylation. In this thesis we have studied adenovirus and vaccinia virus, two DNA viruses with different replication stategies. LÄS MER
18. Computer Simulation of Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase Reaction Mechanisms and Dihydrofolate Reductase Inhibition
Sammanfattning : Protein tyrosine phosphatases catalyse the hydrolysis of phosphotyrosine residues in proteins, which is an important reaction in the cell signalling system. The three dimensional structure of such a protein tyrosine phosphatase has been used in a computational study of the reaction mechanism at the atomic level. LÄS MER
19. T-Cell Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase, a Regulator of the PDGF Signaling Pathway
Sammanfattning : Platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) is a potent stimulator of cell growth, survival and motility. PDGF exerts its function by binding to specific tyrosine kinase receptors, initiating receptor auotphosphorylation and initiation of specific signaling pathways that regulates the cellular response. 20. Regulation of Na+,K+-ATPase activity by protein phosphatase-1 and protein kinase C : studies in infant and adult renal tissue and on vascular smooth muscle cells
Sammanfattning : Na+, K+-ATPase is short-term modulated by hormones, involving activation of signal transduction system. The present study was designed to elucidate the role of the signaling molecules PP-1, PKC and arachidonic acid (AA) metabolites in the regulation of Na+, K+-ATPase by reversible phosphorylation, the final step of the signal transduction, and to examine the ontogeny of the signaling system.
