  1. 11. Misfolded superoxide dismutase-1 in sporadic and familial Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

    Författare :Karin Forsberg; Thomas Brännström; Irina Alafuzoff; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ALS; SOD-1 motor neuron; protein misfolding; intranuclear; antibodies; CNS; brain; patologi; Pathology;

    Sammanfattning : Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal neurodegenerative syndrome of unknown etiology that most commonly affects people in middle and high age. The hallmark of ALS is a progressive and simultaneous loss of upper and lower motor neurons in the central nervous system that leads to a progressive muscle atrophy, paralysis and death usually by respiratory failure. Sammanfattning : Systemic amyloidoses are a group of lethal diseases where proteins aggregate into fibrillar structures, called amyloid fibrils, that deposits throughout the body. Transthyretin (TTR) causes one type of amyloidosis, in which the aggregates mainly infiltrate nervous and cardiac tissue. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most common cancer and the second leading cause of cancer related death. It is a heterogeneous disease involving multiple molecular pathways that result in differing phenotypes. Individual variability in CRC susceptibility is influenced by genetic variation, such as single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). 4. 14. Pathology of dNTP dysregulation

    Författare :Phong Tran; Andrei Chabes; Erik Johansson; Ola Hammarsten; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :dNTP metabolism; DNA replication; mutation rate; cancer; heart development; RNR; SAMHD1; Rrm1; Samhd1; medicinsk biokemi; Medical Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Deoxyribonucleoside triphosphates (dNTPs) are precursors for DNA replication and repair. Mammalian cells have two distinct biosynthesis pathways to supply dNTPs: de novo and salvage pathways. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Exoenzyme S of Pseudomonas aeruginosa : cellular targets and interaction with 14-3-3

    Författare :Lubna Yasmin; Bengt Hallberg; Joan Olson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ExoS; ADP-ribosylation; 14-3-3 protein; Pseudomonas aeruginosa; Small GTPases; RAS; RAP; Pathology; Patologi;

    Sammanfattning : Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an opportunistic pathogen that is a serious problem for immuno-compromised patients. Toxins such as exoenzyme (Exo) S, ExoT, ExoY and ExoU are secreted and translocated from the bacteria into the eukaryotic cell via the bacterial encoded type III secretion system. LÄS MER
