11. A kinetic study of metabolite transfer in coupled two-enzyme reactions
Sammanfattning : There are two fundamentally different ways by which a metabolite can be transferred between enzymes in metabolic pathways. If the two sequential enzymes cannot form a complex with each other, the metabolite must first be released from the producing enzyme to the reaction medium and then be transported to the consuming enzyme, via the reaction medium, by free diffusion. 12. Efficient Conversion of Lignocellulose Hydrolysates- Yeast Tolerance and Redox Metabolism
Sammanfattning : The fermentation of lignocellulose hydrolysates by Saccharomyces cerevisiae for ethanol production was investigated. An important problem for the successful conversion of these hydrolysates is that they often are inhibitory. LÄS MER
13. On the antiporter-like subunits of respiratory chain Complex I - implications for the evolution and coupling mechanism of the NADH:quinone oxidoreductase enzyme complex
Sammanfattning : Complex I or NADH:quinone oxidoreductase is the largest enzyme complex, but the least understood energy coupling site in the respiratory chain of mitochondria and bacteria. No high-resolution structural information exists for this enzyme and the molecular mechanism that couples electron transfer and proton pumping is not understood. LÄS MER
14. Sources of Arachidonic Acid in Platelets, Bone, Marrow and Gastrointestinal Tract
Sammanfattning : This study investigates pathways by which the eicosanoid precursor pools in the platelets, bone marrow and the gastrointestinal (GI) mucosa are acquired and regulated, and in this context some aspects on the interaction between triglyceride (TG)-rich lipoproteins and platelets. 1. 15. Superporous agarose a new material for chromatography
Sammanfattning : Agarose, the most commonly employed chromatography base material in industrial purification processes for biomolecules – proteins, has almost ideal properties. The major disadvantage of the agarose support is its poor mechanical strength which excludes its use in high speed separations where small particles are needed in order to achieve improved chromatographic efficiency.
