6. Examining the role of metabolism in Myc-driven tumorigenesis
Sammanfattning : Myc transcriptionally regulates genes involved in processes such as cell proliferation, metabolism, differentiation, and angiogenesis. MYC expression is deregulated in many types of human cancer; therefore discovering the mechanisms behind MYCs role in tumorigenesis is essential. LÄS MER
7. NMR STUDIES ON STRUCTURE AND DYNAMICS OF TWO-DOMAIN PROTEINS
Sammanfattning : The general objective of the present thesis work was to examine 3-dimensional structure as well as the motional properties of two different types of two-domain proteins by solution-state NMR. One of the major tasks of this thesis work was to investigate the domain orientation of these molecules by employing residual dipolar couplings (RDC) which can be used as orientational restraints for increasing the accuracy of protein structures determined by NMR. 8. Hydrophobic Fusion Tags: Implications For Bioseparation and Cellular Expression
Sammanfattning : The studies in this thesis have shown that the partitioning of endoglucanase I (EGI, Cel7B) from T. reesei could be significantly improved by relatively minor genetic engineering. By adding short peptides composed of tryptophan and proline residues to EGI, extreme partitioning could be obtained. LÄS MER
9. Fast isolation of proteins from bioreactors using affinity chromatography techniques
Sammanfattning : The purification of proteins from raw materials like fermentation broth and other biological sources usually involves several purification steps and is rather time consuming and expensive. This is a major concern in the production of many important protein products e.g. pharmaceuticals such as insulin and blood coagulation factors. LÄS MER
10. NADH:quinone oxidoreductase: the black box of the respiratory chain
Sammanfattning : Complex I or NADH:quinone oxidoreductase the largest, most complex and least understood of the five membrane-bound enzyme complexes constituting the mitochondrial respiratory chain. The enzyme is present in all types of organisms, from bacteria to mammals. LÄS MER
