  1. 1. Seaweed as a sustainable source of food protein: maximizing seaweed protein content, protein recovery, and nutritional quality

    Författare :João Pedro Trigo; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; protein isolation; intestinal permeability; detergent; thermal water treatment; protein shift; wastewater; elemental compositional; macroalgae; gastrointestinal digestion; cultivation;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on utilizing seaweed, such as Saccharina latissima and Ulva fenestrata , as sustainable food protein sources to complement terrestrial protein currently limited by land and water supply. While seaweed holds promise, its protein content is lower than pulses and antinutrients reduce protein nutritional quality. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Biogas Production from Citrus Wastes and Chicken Feather : Pretreatment and Co-digestion

    Författare :Gergely Forgács; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; anaerobic digestion; pretreatments; co-digestion; economic analyses; citrus wastes; feather; Energi; material; Resursåtervinning; Resource Recovery;

    Sammanfattning : Anaerobic digestion is a sustainable and economically feasible waste management technology, which lowers the emission of greenhouse gases (GHGs), decreases the soil and water pollution, and reduces the dependence on fossil fuels. The present thesis investigates the anaerobic digestion of waste from food-processing industries, including citrus wastes (CWs) from juice processing and chicken feather from poultry slaughterhouses. 3. 3. Protein isolation from herring (Clupea harengus) using the pH-shift process - Protein yield, protein isolate quality and removal of food contaminants

    Författare :Sofia Marmon; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; precipitation; acid; gelation; in vitro digestion; solubilization; herring; protein; salt solubility; pH; lipids; alkaline; transmission electron microscopy; dioxins;

    Sammanfattning : Herring (Clupea harengus) contain valuable proteins but is difficult to process into high-quality foods due to its small size and high content of bones, heme-proteins and lipids. Herring is among the most abundant fish species in the world, but is currently utilized largely for fish meal and oil production. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Digestion and absorption of galactolipids

    Författare :Lena Ohlsson; Lund Medicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Gastro-enterology; Pancreatic lipase related proteins.; Pancreatic lipase; Monogalactosyldiglyceride; Lipolytic enzymes; Galactolipids; Essential fatty acids; Digestion; Digalactosyldiglyceride; Colipase; Chylomicron; Bile salt stimulated lipase; Carboxyl ester lipase; Gastroenterologi; Proteins; enzymology; Proteiner; enzymologi; Lipids; steroids; membranes; Lipider; steroider; mebran;

    Sammanfattning : Galactolipids: digalactosyldiglyceride (DGalDG), monogalactosyldiglyceride (MGalDG) and sulfoquinovosyldiglyceride (SQDG) are the major lipid components in thylakoid membranes of chloroplasts i.e. the site of photosynthesis in plants. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Analysis of proteins related toautoimmune and inflammatorydiseases with focus on newenrichment methodologies and MALDI-TOF MS

    Författare :Yuye Zhou; Åsa Emmer; Margret Thorsteinsdottir; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Protein; Glycopeptide; IgG; Osteopontin; Enrichment; Digestion; Separation; Microchip; MALDI-TOF MS; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Proteins have been widely studied in biological sample analysis due to the association with diseases. In the present project, method and technique development was carried out on the analysis of two proteins, immunoglobulin G (IgG) and osteopontin (OPN). LÄS MER
