  1. 21. Spray-Dried Powders for Inhalation : Particle Formation and Formulation Concepts

    Författare :Jessica Elversson; Göran Alderborn; Anna Millqvist-Fureby; Lars Hovgaard; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutics; Spray drying; Particle formation; Density; Protein formulation; Encapsulation; Coating; Competitive adsorption; Polymer; ESCA; AFM; FTIR; Galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics; Galenisk farmaci;

    Sammanfattning : Spray drying is a method with a high potential in the preparation of protein particles suitable for pulmonary delivery. However, surface induced denaturation of bio-molecules during atomization and subsequent drying can be substantial and it is therefore important to develop new formulation concept for concurrent encapsulation and stabilization of proteins during spray drying. 2. 22. Insulin Polymorphism Crystallographic Characterization of Insulin Microcrystals

    Författare :Mathias Norrman; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Strukturkemi; Structure chemistry; biomatematik; protein crystallography; X-ray powder diffraction; Bioinformatics; medical informatics; microcrystals; Bioinformatik; Molekylär biofysik; Molecular biophysics; biomathematics biometrics; medicinsk informatik; insulin;

    Sammanfattning : Insulin is a protein needed for the uptake of glucose from the circulating blood. In absence of sufficiently high insulin levels in the body or when the cells have a reduced sensitivity for insulin a disease state referred to as diabetes occurs. Treatment of diabetes generally requires daily injections of exogenous insulin. LÄS MER

  3. 23. The hematopoietic transcription factor RUNX1 : a structural view

    Författare :Stefan Bäckström; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Molecular medicine; RUNX1; Runt domain; CBFβ; transcription factor; leukaemia; protein crystallography; anomalous diffraction; Molekylärmedicin; Molecular medicine genetics and pathology ; Molekylär medicin genetik och patologi ; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : The malfunction of the transcriptional regulator RUNX1 is the major cause of several variants of acute human leukemias and its normal function is to regulate the development of the blood system in concert with other transcriptional co-regulators. RUNX1 belongs to a conserved family of heterodimeric transcription factors that share a conserved DNA binding domain, the Runt domain (RD), named after the first member of this group – Runt - found in Drosophila melanogaster. 4. 24. Ultrafast Structural Changes in a Bacterial Photosynthetic Reaction Center probed with XFEL Radiation

    Författare :Robert Dods; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Photosynthesis; Reaction Center; Time-resolved crystallography; XFEL; membrane protein;

    Sammanfattning : Photosynthesis is the process by which plants and many species of bacteria convert energy from sunlight into chemical energy used to power their metabolism. As these plants and bacteria are eaten, the chemical energy moves up the food chain and thus photosynthesis provides fuel for almost all life on Earth. LÄS MER

  5. 25. X-ray characterization of PaPheOH, a bacterial phenylalanine hydroxylase

    Författare :Fredrik Ekström; Uwe H. Sauer; Edward Hough; Umeå universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Many human diseases are associated with the malfunction of enzymes in the aromatic amino acid hydroxylase family, e.g. phenylketonuria (PKU), hyperphenylalaninemia (HPA), schizophrenia and Parkinson's disease. LÄS MER
