1. Studies of electrically conductive textile coatings with PEDOT:PSS
Sammanfattning : This study investigates electrically conductive coatings of textiles, obtained with a direct coating and the addition of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)-poly(styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) dispersion to a thickened polyurethane (PU)-based formulation. Textiles with enhanced electrical conductivity have potential applications in antistatic, electrostatic discharge protective, electromagnetic interference shielding, sensoric and temperature-regulating products. 2. Corrosion protection and nanomechanical properties of waterborne acrylate-based coating with and without nanocellulose on carbon steel
Sammanfattning : Corrosion protection is commonly achieved by applying a thin polymer coating on metal surfaces. In this doctoral thesis, a waterborne hydroxyacrylate-melamine copolymer coating was used for this purpose. The first step was to find the optimal curing conditions. LÄS MER
3. Hydrophobic and superhydrophobic coatings for corrosion protection of steel
Sammanfattning : Since metals in general, and steels in particular, are vital construction materials in our modern society, the corrosion protection of said materials is of great importance, both to ensure safety and to reduce costs associated to corrosion. Previously, chromium (VI) and other harmful substances were effectively used to provide corrosion protection to steel, but since their use was heavily regulated around year 2000, no coating has yet been developed that, in a fully satisfactory manner, replaces their corrosion protective properties. 4. Development of Encapsulated UN-UO₂ Accident Tolerant Fuel
Sammanfattning : Accident tolerant fuels (ATFs) are designed to endure a severe accident in the reactor core longer than the standard UO2-Zr alloy systems used in light water reactors (LWRs). Composite fuels such as UN-UO2 are being considered as an ATF concept to address the lower oxidation resistance of the UN fuel from a safety perspective for use in LWRs, whilst improving the in-reactor behaviour of the UO2 fuel. 5. High Temperature Oxidation and Corrosion of Ni-Based Superalloys for Industrial Gas Turbines
Sammanfattning : High temperature oxidation and corrosion of Ni-based superalloys used for blades in industrial gas turbines was studied using advanced high-resolution electron microscopy methods. Both coated and non-coated alloys were tested. LÄS MER
