Sammanfattning : ABSTRACT Background: Myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM1) is a neuromuscular multisystemic disorder with slowly progressive muscle weakness. The overall purpose of this thesis was, in adult patients with DM1, to investigate factors of importance for functional balance skills and falls, and to investigate the natural course of muscle force and functional balance impairments, with reliable measurement methods. Sammanfattning : Parkinson disease (PD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects about 1% of the population over 60 years. The cardinal symptoms are motor disabilities but cognitive decline is also common. About 50% of all persons with PD develop dementia within 10 years after disease onset. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Cognitive and motor dysfunction in the early phase of Parkinson's disease

Sammanfattning : Background: Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a chronic and progressive neurodegenerative disease. The diagnosis is based on a combination of the motor signs: tremor, bradykinesia, rigidity and postural abnormalities. Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) is common early in the disease and a large proportion of patients with PD develop dementia (PDD). LÄS MER
