6. Across landscapes and seascapes : The movement ecology of diving and flying guillemots and gulls during breeding
Sammanfattning : Most seabirds breed colonially, at which time they make central-place foraging trips. Parents must collect food both for themselves and for egg production/chick-rearing. LÄS MER
7. EnviroMT : A new controlled source/radio magnetotoelluric system
Sammanfattning : In the frame of an EU project, a new electromagnetic prospecting instrument was designed and constructed for environmental and engineering applications. The instrument works in the frequency domain in the band 1-250 kHz, whereby the collected data can be used to study the variation of ground resistivity from the surface to a maximum depth of few hundred meters. 8. Från svensk malmexport till utländsk etablering : Grängesbergsbolagets internationalisering 1953-1980
Sammanfattning : The main purpose of this thesis is to analyze the internationalisation of the Grängesberg Company from 1953 to 1980. The strategies that the company used and the knowledge it gained by participating in international mining projects are studied. The first and largest mining activity abroad was the Lamco project in Liberia. LÄS MER
9. Homogenization of some linear and nonlinear partial differential equations
Sammanfattning : In this thesis is studied two-scale convergence for sequences of linear and nonlinear evolution problems. In particular homogenization procedures, correctors and a numerical algorithm for such problems are studied. The main results are the following: We prove a crucial compactness results of two-scale convergence type. LÄS MER
10. Spectral signature measurements and image processing for geological remote sensing
Sammanfattning : This work focuses on (i) spectral signatures of rocks and lichens, and on the use of satellite images for (ii) survey mapping of areas dominated by exposed bedrock, (iii) bedrock mapping and mineral prospecting.(i) Laboratory measurements demonstrate that a lichen cover can significantly mask the spectral reflectance of rocks.
