  1. 1. Underlying psychological mechanisms of helping effects : Examining the when × why of charitable giving

    Författare :Arvid Erlandsson; Institutionen för psykologi; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; charitable giving; helping; prosocial behavior; helping effects; identified victim effect; proportion dominance effect; in-group effect; emotions; sympathy; perceived utility; perceived responsibility; decision modes; mediation; moral decision making; dual-process theories.;

    Sammanfattning : The overarching purpose of this thesis was to investigate if different helping effects can be specifically linked to different psychological mechanisms. Helping effects (i.e. the when of helping) refer to situational differences that can increase or decrease the probability of helping. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The Problem of Partial Migration - the Case of the Blue Tit

    Författare :Anna Nilsson; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Naturvetenskap; Natural science; Djurekologi; Animal ecology; Ekologi; Ecology; weather; personality; partial migration; metabolic rate; evolution of migration; dominance; Cyanistes caeruleus; climate change; blue tit; behavioural strategies; bird migration;

  3. 3. Conifer Evolution, from Demography and Local Adaptation to Evolutionary Rates : Examples from the Picea genus

    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Speciation; Demographics; clinal variation; convergent evolution; transcriptome; small regulatory RNA; Biologi med inriktning mot evolutionär funktionsgenomik; Biology with specialization in Evolutionary Functional Genomics; Biology with specialization in Evolutionary Genetics; Biologi med inriktning mot evolutionär genetik;

    Sammanfattning : Evolutionary process can be inferred at three different levels: the species level, the population level and the molecular level. In this thesis, I applied approaches at these three levels and aimed to get a comprehensive picture of conifer evolution, from speciation and demography to geographic variation and local adaptation, and then to the molecular evolution of proteins and small regulatory RNAs. 4. 4. Exploring health-seeking behaviour of disadvantaged populations in rural Bangladesh

    Författare :Syed Masud Ahmed; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Bangladesh; disadvantaged populations; health-seeking behaviour; health-system; self-care;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Improving ability of the health system to reach the poor/disadvantaged populations is important for health and essential to mitigate the income-erosion consequences of ill- health in Bangladesh. This study examined the health-seeking behaviour of some identified disadvantaged population groups, including the effect of poverty focused non-governmental development interventions. LÄS MER

    Författare :Johanna Wiss; Gustav Tinghög; Per Carlsson; Lars-Åke Levin; Ann-Charlotte Nedlund; Joanna Coast; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The rarity of a disease can give rise to challenges that differ from conventional diseases. For example, rarity hampers research and development of new drugs, and patients with severe, rare diseases have limited access to qualified treatments. When drugs are available, clinical evidence has higher uncertainty and the drugs can be very expensive. LÄS MER
