  1. 11. Total intravenous anaesthesia : pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic studies of propofol and eltanolone

    Författare :Arne Wessén; Uppsala universitet; []

  2. 12. The Neurological Wake-up Test in Neurocritical Care

    Författare :Karin Skoglund; Niklas Marklund; Per Enblad; Tiit Mathiesen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Intracranial pressure; Cerebral perfusion pressure; Propofol sedation; Wake-up test; stress hormones; intracerebral microdialysis; brain tissue oxygenation; jugular venous oxygenation; Neurokirurgi; Neurosurgery;

    Sammanfattning : The neurological wake-up test, NWT, is a clinical monitoring tool that can be used to evaluate the level of consciousness in patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH) during neurocritical care (NCC). Since patients with severe TBI or SAH are often treated with mechanical ventilation and sedation, the NWT requires that the continuous sedation is interrupted. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Intravenous induction of anaesthesia in children : aspects on propofol and etomidate

    Författare :Yvonne Nyman; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Propofol is today the most commonly used drug for induction of anaesthesia and for short-term sedation. However, one specific problem is that intravenous injection of propofol often results in quite severe injection pain, which in the paediatric population is a serious clinical dilemma. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Nicotinic transmission and drugs in anesthesia : neuromuscular blocking agents and propofol : consequences for carotid body function

    Författare :Malin Jonsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Carotid body; chemoreceptors; neuromuscular blocking agents; propofol; acetylcholine; nicotinic acetylcholine receptors;

    Sammanfattning : The carotid body is the global oxygen sensor of the human body. Acute hypoxia elicits instant hyperventilation mediated from the carotid body type 1 cells, where nicotinic transmission is a key component in oxygen sensing and signalling. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Novel neurophysiological monitors of the transition from wakefulness to loss of consciousness during anaesthesia

    Författare :Gunilla Barr; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :EEG; BI-spectral index; AEP; propofol; sevoflurane; awareness;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The concept of adequate anaesthesia is not easily defined. One important component of anaesthesia is the suppression of wakefulness, that is, a patient who does not experience sensory input such as hearing, vision, and feeling of pain. LÄS MER
