    Sammanfattning : BACKGROUND: Prostate cancer is by far the most common cancer among Swedish men. Some patients have an aggressive lethal disease, but the majority of affected men have long expected survival. Unfortunately, the diagnostic tools available are insufficient in predicting disease aggressiveness. Novel prognostic markers are therefore urgently needed. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Endocrine resistant breast cancer is a major therapeutical challenge and accurate selection of patients susceptible to certain types of anti-hormonal treatment strategies is pivotal. Discovery of novel biomarkers potentially predicting treatment response as well as the clinical course of breast cancer is essential to effectively improve therapies and diagnosis. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Background: Prostate Cancer (PC) is a common and highly variable disease. Using current diagnostic methods, the prostate specific antigen (PSA) blood test and histological grading of prostate tissue needle biopsies, it is often difficult to evaluate whether the patient has a PC that requires active treatment or not. Sammanfattning : Breast cancer is the most common tumour form and the second leading cause of death in solid tumours in women in the Western world. Despite improvements in the treatment, a considerable number of patients will relapse and die from their breast cancer. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Ovarian cancer : Treatment results, prognostic factors, and tumor marker surveillance

    Författare :Thomas Högberg; Claes Tropé; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : The total population-based material of 426 ovarian malignancies in the Southeast Health Care Region of Sweden during 1984-1987 was surveyed. It seems that with a program of cytoreductive surgery followed by a cisplatinum chemotherapy combination in the metastasizing cases the overall survival figures have improved. LÄS MER
