11. Mechanisms triggering the recruitment of mast cell progenitors to the lung and regulation of mast cell degranulation
Sammanfattning : Mast cells stem from the bone marrow and migrate via the blood as mast cell progenitors. Upon arrival in peripheral tissues, they develop into mast cells. These rare immune cells have numerous granules that contain large amounts of pro-inflammatory mediators. LÄS MER
12. Peripheral nerve glia as multipotent progenitors in craniofacial development
Sammanfattning : Craniofacial development is complex. Numerous populations of progenitor cells coordinate activities to produce an array of highly integrated tissues inside the developing head. However, it is not clear how some key multipotent progenitors continue to exist in late developing head compartments. LÄS MER
13. Generation of functional neural progenitors for spinal cord transplantation
Sammanfattning : Dorsal root avulsion injuries result in permanent impairment of sensory functions due to the disconnection of the peripheral nervous system from the spinal cord. Strategies aiming for the functional reconnection of sensory neurons with their targets in the spinal cord dorsal horn need to overcome the axonal growth non-permissive glial scar and provide a growth promoting environment. 14. SN 2011dh and the progenitors of Type IIb supernovae
Sammanfattning : Core-collapse supernovae (SNe) are the observed events following the collapse of the core of evolved massive stars. The gravitational energy released creates a powerful shock that disrupts the star and ejects the heated material into the surrounding circumstellar medium. The observed properties depend on the mass lost by the star, e.g. LÄS MER
15. Looking for the high-mass progenitors of stripped-envelope supernovae
Sammanfattning : Stripped-envelope supernovae were thought to be the explosions of very massive stars (& 20 M) that lost their outer layers of hydrogen and/or helium in strong stellar winds. However, recent studies have highlighted that most stripped-envelope supernovae seem to be arising from rela- tively lower-mass progenitor stars in the 12 20 M(sun) range, creating a mystery about the fate of the higher-mass stars.
