  1. 11. Perceived Quality of Cars. A Novel Framework and Evaluation Methodology

    Författare :Kostas Stylidis; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; luxury; knowledge management; engineering; premium; design; engineering; automotive; product quality; ; product development; aesthetics; perceived quality;

    Sammanfattning : The supremacy of the automotive manufacturers today is no longer driven by them achieving a superior manufacturing quality but increasingly depends on the customer’s quality perception. Average car consumers see a car’s quality as a fancy mixture of design, aesthetics, their own previous experiences and performance characteristics of the vehicle, unlike a combination of mechanical parts, software pieces, advanced materials, cutting-edge manufacturing processes, with technical knowledge, skills and high production volumes – all ingredients involved in the modern car creation. 2. 12. Design Syntactics: A Functional Approach to Visual Product Form Theory, Models, and Methods

    Författare :Anders Warell; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; product semantics; engineering design; industrial design; product form; design methodology; visual design aesthetics; design syntactics; functionality; interdisciplinary design; form design development;

    Sammanfattning : In line with the increasing importance of high quality appearance and aesthetic appeal in the design of consumer products, there is a growing need for enhanced understanding and ability to handle visual product form in industrial product development. In an approach for meeting that need, this thesis concerns the nature and development of visual design aesthetics in product form design. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Innovation in a Changing World : Exploring PSS Design through Prototyping

    Författare :Ryan Ruvald; Alessandro Bertoni; Andreas Larsson; Christian Johansson Askling; Blekinge Tekniska Högskola; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Product-Service System Design; Design Thinking; Prototypes; Boundary Objects; Maskinteknik; Mechanical Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Customers across all sectors have increasing expectations (e.g. value, efficiency, availability, quality, etc.) and expanding needs which traditional business models fail to address simultaneously and stand-alone products cannot be expected to solve. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Aesthetic Flexibility : Modularity of Visual Form in Product Portfolios and Branded Products

    Författare :Torbjörn Andersson; Johan Ölvander; Anders Warell; Stefan Holmlid; Monika Hestad; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Aesthetic flexibility; industrial design; product modularity; brand extension; product portfolio development; carry-over; face-lift;

    Sammanfattning : The increase in competition amongst companies that produce complex or large product portfolios has created a need to utilise modularity strategies not only to flexibly manage technical complexity in a costeffective manner but also for visual appearance. This research aims to understand how the visual appearance of products is affected by modular product development strategies. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Form & Formlessness : Questioning aesthetic abstractions through art projects, cross-disciplinary studies and product design education

    Författare :Cheryl Akner Koler; Edith Ackermann; Konstfack; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Aesthetics; Abstractions; Form; Design; Formgiving; Formlessness; Gestalt; Complexity; cross-disciplinary; Design; Design; Konst; Arts; Designdriven och gestaltande kunskapsproduktion; Designdriven och gestaltande kunskapsproduktion; Sensorium; rumsliga perceptioner; Sensorium; rumsliga perceptioner; Materiella kulturer; Materiella kulturer;

    Sammanfattning : This research is based on empirical, embodied studies aimed to generate and regenerate aesthetic reasoning through three approaches:an educational approach concerned with developing an aesthetic discipline, supporting a formgiving process aimed to create tangible artifacts.an art-based approach supporting an open exploration of distortion and formlessnessa multi-disciplinary exploratory approach concerned with aesthetic experiences shared in laborations demonstrating complexity and transformation.
