  1. 1. Pipe failure assessment and decision support system for a smart operation and maintenance : A comprehensive literature review and a conceptual decision analysis model proposal

    Författare :Roya Meydani; John Leander; Andreas Lindhe; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Urban pipeline systems’ rehabilitation; Infrastructure management; Decision-modeling; Decision analysis; Problem structuring; Uncertainty; Bayesian decision theory; Utility-based decision-making.; Urbana ledningssystemsunderhåll; Infrastruktur förvaltning; Beslutsmod- ellering; Beslutsanalys; Problembeskrivning; Osäkerhet; Bayesiansk beslutsteori; Nyttobaserad beslutsmodell; Bro- och stålbyggnad; Structural Engineering and Bridges;

    Sammanfattning : The reported research provides a rough guide to the best practice of decision modeling concerning urban pipeline systems’ rehabilitation. The thesis aims to bring attention to the fact that a proper decision-making model is a cornerstone for efficient infrastructure management. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Actors at the interface between socio-technical and ecological systems: Analytical starting point for identifying mitigation possibilities in the case of on-site sewage systems

    Författare :Are Wallin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; interface-actors; Eutrophication; problem-structuring approach; wastewater treatment systems; homeowners;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis addresses several issues related to factors influencing actors around environmental problems to decrease the environmental pressures. Systems treating sewage at the scale of one to a few households (on-site sewage systems, OSSs) comprise a Swedish case study. LÄS MER

  3. 3. An approach to automatic construction of graphical user interfaces for applications in scientific computing

    Författare :Vadim Engelson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Applications in scientific computing perform input and output of large amounts of data of complex structure. Since it is difficult to interpret these data in textual form, a graphical user interface (GUI) for data editing, browsing and visualization is required. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Development of Decision Support Tools for Urban Water Supply Management in Uganda

    Författare :Frank Kizito; Roger Thunvik; Patrick Ogao; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Decision support systems; Participatory decision-making; Geovisualization; Non-revenue water; Geostatistics; Action research; Water engineering; Vattenteknik;

    Sammanfattning : In this study, five real-life problem situations were used to explore the challenges of developing and implementing decision support tools for management of an urban water utility in Uganda. The study sought to explore how the degree of adoption of formal decision support tools in practice, generally perceived to be low, could be improved. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Design and Investigation of a Decision Support System for Public Policy Formulation

    Författare :Osama Ibrahim; Aron Larsson; David Sundgren; Els van Daalen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Systems Thinking; Prescriptive Policy Analysis; Policy modelling and Simulation; ICT for governane; Sense4us; Policy Impact Assessment; Scenario Planning; Knowledge synthesis; Computer and Systems Sciences; data- och systemvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The ultimate aim of support for public policy decision making is to develop ways of facilitating policymaking that can create policies that are consistent with the preferences of policymakers and stakeholders (such as an increase in economic growth, the reduction of social inequalities, and improvements to the environment), and that are at the same time based on the available knowledge and evidential information.Using the design science research methodology, an iterative design process was followed to build and evaluate a research artefact in the form of an analytical method that is also operationalised as a decision support system (DSS) – in order to facilitate the problem analysis, the impact assessment and the decision evaluation activities carried out at the policy formulation stage of the policymaking process.
