  1. 16. Characterization of Fluorescent Dyes for Biochemical Applications. Chemometric Analysis of Spectroscopic Data

    Författare :Jan Nygren; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; principal component analysis; fluorescein; chemometrics; optical spectroscopy; fluorophores; thiazole orange;

    Sammanfattning : Fluorescent dyes are used in a number of different biochemical applications to visualize and probe biomolecules. The aim of this work was to characterize the spectroscopic properties of two such dyes, fluorescein and thiazole orange, and to develop chemometric methods to extract further information from these data. 2. 17. Deciphering sequence data : A multivariate approach

    Författare :Maria Sandberg Hiltunen; Michael Sjöström; Svante Wold; Lars Ståhle; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Principal properties; amino acids; nucleotides; tRNA; DNA; multivariate data analysis; sequence analysis; QSAR; quantitative sequence activity relationships;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, attention has been focused on the quantitative description of nucleic acids, proteins and peptides. The strategy was to use multivariate chemometrical methods for improving the understanding of the complex structural codes of these kinds of biological molecules. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Introduction Gender as a social and cultural construction has an impact on physiotherapist and patient beliefs, understanding, and behaviour and could affect physiotherapy encounters. Gender studies in early rehabilitation are scarce. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Removal processes in sewage treatment plants : Sludge quality and treatment efficiency of structurally diverse organic compounds

    Författare :Ulrika Olofsson; Peter Haglund; Staffan Lundstedt; Juliane Hollender; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmetrics; flame retardants; GCxGC; non-targeted screening; mass flow; metals; plasticizers; poorly removed contaminants; POP; PPCP; prediction; Principal Component Analysis; removal efficiency; sewage; sewage treatment plants; sludge; sludge adsorption; sources; time-trend analysis; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Sammanfattning : Large and ever-increasing numbers of chemicals, including large quantities of a broad spectrum of organic compounds are used in modern society. More than 30 000 of the more than 100 000 chemical substances registered in the EU are estimated to be daily used, of which many will be discharged into the waste-streams handled by municipal sewage treatment plants (STPs).
