2. Debugging metabarcoding for insect biodiversity studies
Sammanfattning : Insects are one of the most abundant and diverse animal groups, and they include many valuable ecological indicator species, but taxonomic discovery projects and biodiversity surveys targeting this group are often challenging. While mass trapping devices allow the collection of insects in great numbers, the task of identifying the species present is a painstaking and resource-demanding process. LÄS MER
3. Combination of heating and preservative impregnation of wood for outdoor exposure
Sammanfattning : The research is presented as a composite thesis containing a theoretical explanatory review based on four scientific articles. The thesis covers the investigation of wood modification methods, which in the future could possibly be developed further to enhance the performance of wood products in an efficient and economical way. 4. Industrially Pre-Treated Potatoes (Solanum tuberosum L.) Served in Large-Scale Food Service Systems
Sammanfattning : In Swedish schools, a warm lunch is served every day. The lunch is prepared in a largescale food service system and includes steam-cooked potatoes several times per week. The potatoes are often industrially pre-treated to facilitate the handling and logistics required to cook hundreds of meals in a couple of hours. LÄS MER
5. Mercury species transformations in marine and biological systems studied by isotope dilution mass spectrometry and stable isotope tracers
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the implementation of species-specific isotope dilution (SSID) methodology and stable isotope tracers to determine mercury species occurrence and transformation processes in-situ and during sample treatment. Isotope enriched tracers of methyl-, ethyl- and inorganic mercury were synthesised and applied in different combinations to marine and biological samples. LÄS MER
