21. Ultrasensitive DNA sequencing using liquid biopsies enables precision medicine
Sammanfattning : Liquid biopsies are minimally invasive and allow repetitive sampling of body fluids. Analysis of cell-free tumor DNA in liquid biopsies can be used as a biomarker for cancer. However, in most clinically relevant liquid biopsies, cell-free DNA is present at low concentrations, contains minute tumor allele frequencies, and is highly fragmented. LÄS MER
22. Genomic instability and genetic heterogeneity in neuroblastoma tumours
Sammanfattning : Neuroblastoma (NB), a tumour of the sympathetic nervous system and the most common malignant disease of early childhood, is responsible for 9% of paediatric cancer related deaths. Aggressive NB still constitutes a major clinical problem with survival rates of about 35%. LÄS MER
23. Lifestyle and glycaemic control before and after the onset of type 2 diabetes
Sammanfattning : Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a complex disease with widespread physiological insults to the regulation of metabolic homeostasis, above all glycaemic regulation. The pathogenesis of T2D and its progression is broadly understood to be through a gradual decrease in peripheral insulin sensitivity, a compensatory rise in insulin secretion, and a gradual decline in beta-cell function, resulting in glycaemic dysregulation and eventual T2D. 24. Genetics of Diabetes Subtypes. Characterization of novel cluster-based diabetes subtypes
Sammanfattning : BACKGROUND: Type 2 diabetes (T2D) has been reproducibly clustered into five subtypes based on six-clinical variables; age at diabetes onset, body mass index (BMI), Glutamic acid decarboxylase autoantibodies (GADA), glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and insulin secretion and resistance estimated as HOMA2B and HOMA2IR derived from fasting glucose and Cpeptide. These subtypes have different disease progression and risk of complications. LÄS MER
25. Functional genomics approaches to dissect causal DNA variations in obesity and type 2 diabetes
Sammanfattning : GWAS studies have identified hundreds of loci that associate with obesity and type 2 diabetes. However, the functional relevance of the genetic variants, and their impact on disease or traits, is largely unknown. LÄS MER
