  2. 7. Daggers, knowledge & power

    Författare :Jan Apel; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Archaeology; Daggers; flint; technology; social complexity; agency; social structure; transfer of knowledge and know-how; Late Neolithic and Bronze Age societies; Scandinavia; Europe; Arkeologi; Archaeology subjects; Arkeologiämnen; arkeologi; Archaeology;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation investigates how far the organisation of a traditional technology corresponds to the degree of social complexity in a sedentary, agrarian society. An examination of the production of flint daggers during the Late Stone Age and Early Bronze Age of Scandinavia indicates the presence of formal apprenticeship systems based on corporate descent groups. 3. 8. Market structure and market power : the case of the Swedish forest sector

    Författare :Mats Bergman; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The Swedish forest sector is analyzed, using methods drawing on traditional (forest) market analysis and industrial organization literature. Models based on economic theory are tested empirically with time-6eries data.Paper [1] deals with how the pulp and paper industry manages wood supply risk. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Dedicated Followers of Fashion : An Economic Geographic Analysis of the Swedish Fashion Industry

    Författare :Atle Hauge; Anders Malmberg; Dominic Power; Louise Crewe; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Social and economic geography; fashion industry; economic geography; branding; industrial system; symbolic value; cool; Kulturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : In fashion, as in the rest of the economy, the globalisation of taste, power and production now plays a major role. The industry is dominated by fashion capitals like Paris, London or New York, populated by star designers like Tom Ford, Karl Lagerfeld or Jean-Paul Gaultier and controlled through MNC giants like Prada, Gucci, DKNY and Dior, who together influence consumer preferences on a global scale. 5. 10. Primitive Direcursion and Difunctorial Semantics of Typed Object Calculus

    Författare :Johan Glimming; Karl Meinke; John Power; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; denotational semantics; axiomatic domain theory; coalgebra; primitive co recursion; object-based programming; typed object calculus; Computer science; Datavetenskap; datalogi; Computer Science;

    Sammanfattning : In the first part of this thesis, we contribute to the semantics of typed object calculus by giving (a) a category-theoretic denotational semantics using partial maps making use of an algebraic compactness assumption, (b) a notion of "wrappers'' by which algebraic datatypes can be represented as object types, and (c) proofs of computational soundness and adequacy of typed object calculus via Plotkin's FPC (with lazy operational semantics), thus making models of FPC suitable also for first-order typed object calculus (with recursive objects supporting method update, but not subtyping). It follows that a valid equation in the model induces operationally congruent terms in the language, so that program algebras can be studied. LÄS MER
